Here is my idea if I don't get in this cycle. I will study for the August MCATS and take them, but meanwhile, I will apply early decision to either UF or U Miami. If rejected by Oct 15th, it won't really make my application later than it would have been b/c they will just be receiving my new mcat scores.

On the other hand, if I don't do EDP, I could send everything in in June and let them wait for my MCAT scores.

p.s. This was just my crazy idea----I don't even know if UF or UM has an EDP program.

What do you think? If you don't understand my question, please let me know so I can clarify. Thanks!

Oh,I would be applying with a 3.6/27 in case you don't know my stats by now....

I think that is actually a great idea. Although I think you will be accepted this year, some other positives to your plan is that some of the schools don't screen based on secondaries, so you could fill a lot of them out and send them in at the same time as you submit you primary. Plus it could save you a ton of money.

I don't know which option would be better, but I bet you could ask the adcom at both schools for their advice. Let them know that they are your top choice schools.
If for some horrible, incomprehensible reason you are not accepted this year, I bet you could ask them what you could do differently and if they suggest applying EDP or not...
Also, talk to your pre-med advisor. if the adcoms at UF and Miami aren't helpful, your advisor should have some good ideas...
Best of luck...and think positively!

I think it's worth a shot. I'm glad this subject was brought up and I'm actually going to consider this option for myself. Looks like I'm going to have to borrow your idea Foxy. Being from California, I don't thing I would have thought of this (only because my top choice state schools don't offer EDP, the UCs).

Sorry babe, neither UF nor UM have an EDP program. You could try USF, but your numbers have to be at least at their averages to have a really good shot of getting in right away instead of being deferred to their regular decision pool.

PS: I wouldn't advise it simply b/c if you don't get in EDP, then you wouldn't be able to designate additional schools on your AMCAS app until mid October or so, and it'll take at least a few weeks for those schools to get their secondaries to you. Most of your files will end up being complete around mid-November depending upon the response time of the schools. Things won't be as backed up this year as they were last year coz schools know what to expect w/ AMCAS. It's a risk, personally one that I wouldn't take.

😡 I just looked it up and they don't have it! 😡 Papi, you're right. Well, at least there is one less decision to make!

What about EDP to Mt Sinai? My guess is no, I shouldn't bother. They do have it though.
