Credentialing with insurance companies

Just started inpatient rehab gig. Was told that I can back log my billing for Medicare patients up to 30 days after submission of Medicare application. Can anyone verify this? How about for private insurance companies?

30 days look back from the time the application is submitted electronically for Medicare. Other insurance vary by state and plan. You have to ask your biller.

Some insurances allow up to 90 days but it varies by company. There should be someone at the hospital that knows all the rules but may want to do what I did and just wait until everything set up to start.
