Individual interview w/ Dr. Norton. I had mine yesterday, and it was a really enjoyable first interview. REALLY laid back and comfortable -- everyone at Creighton was very nice, welcoming, and interested in getting to know me. I toured the school with a dental student before my interview, and was able to step in on a few lecture and lab classes, walk around the clinic, and talk to both students and professors. In terms of the actual interview, Dr. Norton's biggest question was "Do you have any questions for me?" All of the other questions he asked just stemmed off of things that I had asked him. Moral of the story: HAVE LOTS OF QUESTIONS!!! Otherwise, don't stress about Creighton's interview, just be yourself. I really enjoyed my time there and was lucky to have great conversations with the students, faculty, and Dr. Norton while I was there.

It was my first one as well, and IMO, it was a great one to have first. Since it was pretty laid back, I was able to get out all of my first-interview-nerves and I feel much more confident about going into all my other ones. Good luck!!

If I'm not mistaken it is 2.5 hours which includes tour, interview, and everything.
Double check on that number, they have it on their website but I'm pretty positive it's somewhere between 2-3 hours.

Sorry for the delayed response, everyone. I was out of the country and didn't have email access.
My interview lasted about 45-50 minutes and my tour lasted about an hour. In total, I was there for about 2 1/2 hours (including getting there early and talking to Dr. Norton's secretary).
I really enjoyed Creighton -- everyone was SO nice, students and faculty alike. During my tour, I met a number of the faculty members and they were very welcoming, were willing to answer some of my questions, and openly showed their passions for dentistry and for Creighton. Overall, my interview was very laid back and it was a great first interview experience.

I have an afternoon interview coming up.
Anyone know what time the afternoon interviewees are done for the day?
I see some responses above but want to make sure I have enough time to get to the airport nearby...maybe catch a 5:10 or 5:30 flight?
Flight options are limited to my city and I don't want to stay an extra night if possible.

I had mine at 1 and i got out before 3. There are usually have 6 interviewees, but for my day, there was only 3. Tour for 20 min roughly and talked with Dr. Norton for about 40 min. ..

How were Creighton's facilities? I interviewed for the RDEP program in Utah so I wont really get the chance to tour the school. Are they old or up to date? How was the campus? Any info would be much appreciated.

top notch. they are getting a sim lab for the upcoming year (fall 2012). Dr. Norton said that it will not replace the way of creighton does waxing and carving. stuff tho. It will only complemennt.
The clinic is in a huge room. d3 & d4 are all working on patients. seems very busy and i saw a lot of patients waiting at the lobby as well. The clinical is very top notch. (much better I have heard and expected).
I came a day early, walked around creighton (undergraduate), and checked out Rec center and library 😀 Two places where I spend most time!
Gym is awfully and disappointingly small, but got the all the equipment and weights. The lib is pretty decent.
bar scenes are okay. but then as d-students we aren't gonna have a life so it wouldn't matter i guess.

I had a 1pm interview, and I was the last one to go in for my interview with Dr. Norton. I was there until 5pm. Dr. Norton's assistant did mentioned that it was taking abnormally long that day, and normally it was only a couple hours from start to finish.
I had to wait so long because the five people ahead of me all took forever (about 45min each) and asked a million questions to try and get brownie points or something. In my opinion, the key is to get in, ask pertinent, relevant questions, and know how and when to wrap it up. His time is more important than mine, and really I can find all the answers to questions online or from students.

How do you guys think you did? I have all my questions prepared but I'm getting a little frustrated thinking about it. I hope we don't go all the way out there for a waitlist spot. I just don't see how they're going to assess our interviews if we're asking all the questions. Predents last year had quite a few pre-dec interviewees on the waitlist. I was an alternate at 3 different schools last year...not fun. Good luck guys.

Show up before 1 o'clock ( unlike what you did). And the purpose of the interview is to ask questions

Well if you want an early interview show up VERY early. I was there by 12:50, and I was still the last one to arrive. So I guess try for 12:20 or 12:30 in you feel the need to be #1.
But in my opinion, being last can be a good thing. That way you can be fresh in Dr. Norton's memory, rather than the first or second person, who they may forget about after a few hours of listening to students ramble on.

Yes definitely show up early if you want to have an early interview. At least that's how it worked for our interview.

Awesome thanks! I had heard that they were recently updating a lot of their equipment and stuff. Is the school right on campus? How is Omaha?

No its not on campus. It's a bit further, like 5 minute drive. They have it right by the medical school and their university hospital. The city is nice. Not too populated and not too trafficky. Its just like any other east coast city. Very green. I heard it gets really cold there, but they get all the seasons. Maybe someone who lives there should comment on this.
