Currently filling out my CBC, but have a quick question about the "addresses" piece. Each address you enter has a "dates of residence" box also--I was wondering about the best way to list college addresses for these.

For instance, if I've had the same college address for the past 3-4 years, but obviously I'm only living here during the school year, should I just list August - May for one year? Or August 2005 - Present?? Or list it four times for each year?? I have friends who have done CBC's for federal jobs and they had to literally list every location of residence at every point in time, accounting for switches during summer vacations, etc. I'm hoping this is a bit more lenient. Any thoughts?

Thanks 🙂

I dunno, I don't remember/know all my addresses so I only put down those that I knew, which means like my college address and my previous address prior to the house I currently live in. I somehow doubt that I'll be labeled a criminal because of this......at least I hope so. I didn't even put down the years that I was there cuz....well I didn't know

Unless you officially register your college address as your primary residency with teh US government, just put your permanent address. For most people this would be their parent's address.

I'd list where I laid my head at night...

college during the academic year and "back home" or wherever during the summers.

What does it cost you to be most specific... just carpal tunnel or writer's cramp.

This is what I did. For better or for worse. I don't have any criminal record.

Hey, did you guys figure out if we could see our credit scores via the CBC? 😕

I moved around a lot due to my parents jobs when I was younger and not only do my rents have no idea exactly when we lived where, they dont know the exact addresses either.

Any advice esp to LizzyM, what should I do?

I mean before age five I am pretty sure I dont have a criminal record, and if I do I am not aware of it either lol

Also during college I have lived on campus all 4 years, can I just put my name of my college, because as sad as this sounds I have no idea what rooms they were and when you change rooms the old room information disappears from the school websites.

^Just put all of the complete information you can find into there (I don't think partial entries can be submitted but I could totally be wrong about this). Any places you lived for long periods of time. CBCs can often locate other places you may have lived so it's not absolutely essential that you have 100% of your data.

Just make it as accurate as you can.

That's what I was thinking.. but does that mean:

College August 2005 - May 2006
Home May 2006 - August 2006
College August 2006 - ... etc.

or,
College August 2005 - Present?

I bet it is not that big of a deal.. but just a tad confusing on the details. 😕

I'd go with the first because it is more informative.

Going back to anything before age 15, I would think that you could just list the town/city plus state or country and be done with it.

I also had a question about filling out the addresses:

So my "permanent" address is still my parents' address, but I don't live there currently. So for the first address, I put theirs, but for the additionaly addresses it says not to list your current address, but if I don't list my current address, then it's nowhere on the application... So should I list my current address under additional addresses anyway? Thanks!

"Dates of residence" is optional, you don't need to fill it out to complete the form.

Out of curiosity, how far back does it say to go?
