After graduating high school in 2009 one of my classmates had a party (no parents present) and they were some siblings under the age of 17 there and the police showed up and issued every person 17 and older a "contributing to the deliquency of minor citation" -(that sounds terrible). It was because there was alcohol present and people were below 17 and above 17 were there so the cops issued every person 17 and older this citation no matter if they had or hadn't been drinking. I was so pissed (bc I wasn't even drinking) so the court office knew it was wrong and offered us a pre-trial diversion program which I completed and they say the charges have been "dismissed," but still might show up on a criminal background check. Should I list this in my application???

Yes! It will say that you were charged and the charges were later dismissed. However, you were never convicted so if they only ask about convictions you are good. If they ask if you have ever been charged or had a "differed adjucation" you will have to say yes (thats the technical term for diversion). The only way diversion doesn't show up is if it is whats called "pre-file" where the charges never actually get filed. If you had to physically go to court though than it was not a pre-file. Prosecutors like to act like diversion makes everything go away completely but people can still see it.

Don't worry, no one is going to care about this! Be up front about it and you will be fine!

Thanks for your knowledge and input!! Unfortunately I did have to physically go to court to accept the diversion program.
