critical care anesthesiology

to mil and others,
apologies if this question has been asked before. you can kick my rear end and direct me to a previous post if it has been.
did you do a 1 or 2 year fellowship in critical care? after 3 years in the OR, what did you do to jog your memory about all the other info you needed for the ICU setting? as a 3rd year, i find it hard enough to remember things from one rotation to another. so it's pretty amazing that you can refresh all of that during a fellowship.
did you do a lot of extra reading during residency to keep up on your critical care/medicine knowledge? or are you guys just naturally brilliant and so things come easier to you? 😉 😉
how feasible is it to actually practice as an OR anesthesiologist AND work in a unit. do you do 3 months of this, 3 months of that? or am i totally off base.

I actually went to Guantanamo Bay cuba for a year before my fellowship. While in Cuba, my work day consists of

0700 reveille
0800 case in OR...usually ASA 1 for knee arthroscopy
1000 surf the internet
1200 chow hall
1300 surf the internet
1600 bench press 225 at the gym
1700 5 mile run
1800 evening chow
2000 tv for a couple of hours
2200 chat with wife on the internet
2300 lights out.

0700 repeat prior days schedule...usually minus the knee arthroscopy.

or just read a lot during your actual fellowship?
or, i should just not worry about this and what will be will be?

For anesthesia, it is a one year fellowship. The ABA/CCM RRC requires that of those 12 mos that 9 of them be in clinical, critical-care-related rotations. The remaiing three can be used for electives, research or other non-clinical purposes.

The lizards....goats, chickens, cats, and assorted other creatures were still there in 1997.

Was the Jerk House there in 1985? That was my favorite "restaurant".

LOL...I don't remember the Jerk House. I do remember waking up on the beach with a huge Iguana lying beside me..........................................don't remember her name though!
