Hi guys,

I have selected 5 DO schools that I want to apply in the next couple of years. I'm from the South, and I would like to stay in the South if possible (don't like snow). I'm mainly interested in family medicine, and I have LECOM on my list because they have an accelerated program for primary care called Primary Care Scholar Pathway (PCSP). I have talked to some of my friends who are currently students at VCOM and Campbell Pharm and Law. I know Campbell is a new school and the it's in the middle of nowhere.

1. Virginia College of Osteopathic Medicine (Carolina Campus)

2. Campbell University College of Osteopathic Medicine

3. Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (Erie)

4. Licolm Memorial University - DeBusk College of Osteopathic Medicine

5. Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine - Georgia Campus

depending on your gpa/mcat you may want to apply broader? 🙂 Although i'm kind of in the same boat, I don't want to move to the East coast but there are only 5 schools in the W coast I'd actually want to go to :/

I think my GPAs are competitive but I don't have the exact value though, my sGPA is about 3.5-3.6 and cGPA is about 3.4. Can I create an account and then send them my transcripts so they can calculate my GPAs?

when are you applying? Next cycle? And yes you can create an account, although if you aren't bothering applying this cycle don't send transcripts, just input your coursework and it will let you know.

Oh great, I didn't know that. I'm applying the 15-16 cycle.

Can you really? Does that cost money?

no I started my app in the spring it was the 2012 app b.c i was required to by my committee, you can fill it all out and then not apply, just did it so by June 1 could have it done. But the 2012 app doesnt automatically switch over to the 2013 app, so you just have to cut n paste it into the following years app. But you won't have to worry about that till next may!

So you aren't applying for another 3 years? This cycle is the 2012 cycle for the class of 2017...

That's correct, I can't apply yet because I don't have a lot of clinical hours and I want to finish my current program.

also, you should apply to VCOM in VA... the winters aren't terrible in Blacksburg, and the area is absolutely gorgeous!

have you looked ay NSUCOM in FL? they may not entirely fit your mission statement but they focus on serving medically underserved populations
