CRNAs and Pain Management

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Please take the time and complete the very short link. This is a serious issue and absolutely ridiculous. How can a nurse be doing pain when it takes an MD @ least 4-5 yrs of post graduate trainig in order to perform these tasks effectively and safely.

Done. Is this what our country is coming to? Why even become a physician when Kathleen Sebelius, et. al, thinks MD=CRNA=PA=NP? And yet we keep reading articles about how the U.S. is going to be thousands of doctors short in 5-10 years. This is the dumbing down of medicine. I tell you what, when people wise up and want to get good medical care, it is going to be through concierge medicine.

I am a third year medical student planning for anesthesia......is this something I can fill out too? Or do you have to be a physician? This whole CRNA is equivalent to an Anesthesiologist is a load of crap in my opinion! I have spent a rotation on Anesthesia where I was placed in rooms with CRNA'S.....anyone that has to keep consulting google in order to try and teach me about anatomy and basic pharm mechanics is not what I would consider even close to equivalent.

yes you can fill it out. Send it to your buddies that are going to anesthesia or ANY medical student period to fill it out.

Everyone's best interest, no matter WHAT specialty is effected here. If this goes through it will set precedence for a NURSE to practice medicine. It's a slippery slope. Let's stop it now.

Done. Please let's stop teaching nurses (interventional) pain management. Why we continuously shoot ourselves in the foot I'll never understand

This stuff boggles my mind.

Done. Sent it out to my fellow residents, got called into "principal's" office. Was told I was encouraging "discourse" between us and them. Sent in out on my FB page to my fellow residents the next day. The stuff that is happening to our profession scares me. I just was quoted that completely flawed CRNA study by an SRNA, my day just keeps getting better. Maybe I should do a fellowship in sleep medicine.

I think the word you are looking for is "discord."

That study is truly horrible. The fact that they all use it as evidence of equivalency is evidence enough that they don't know what they're talking about.

When I was a resident, I used to encourage INTERCOURSE between the the hot SRNAs and myself. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't - can't blame a fella for trying though.
