Im posting here to help organize my thoughts and to seek advice and guidance. I am hesitant to contact graduate school advisors out of fear that I am non-admissible, and I don't know where to start.
I finished my BA Psychology in 2010 and found a job in telecommunications, but I want to go back to school. The most enjoyable year of college was when I settled into the Psychology major; only 3 semesters after previously considering political science and business. I became a research assistant in my fourth year, which culminated in presenting a poster at an on campus undergraduate research conference.
Now, I would like to go back for more schooling and research, however I dont know where to start. Eventually like to gain admittance to a program similar to Drexels College of Medicine Neuroengineering program. I need a path to get there.
The rough draft series of programs that I will need to go through is: Starting with a post-baccalaureate program/cross-over program (to address my lack of pre-medical science courses and prove that I can earn a 3.7+ GPA), move onto a MS in Biomedical Engineering, and finally a Neuroengineering MD/PhD program.
I am starting with:
cGPA of 2.8
New GRE: 162 (Quantitative), 152 (Verbal), and 3.0 (Writing)
I believe this converts to 775 and 490 on the old GRE, which is a 1265.
I would like to start going back to school in Fall 2012. In the meantime, I plan to start a backpacking trip on the Appalachian Trial. This should take approximately 5 months to thru-hike the entire trail with an approximate start of 3/15/2012; however moving forward academically is my number one priority and will cut this short or eliminate the journey if this is hindering returning to school at an earlier more appropriate date.
Any guidance on how to move forward would be greatly appreciated.
