gonna need pics
I have an attending buddy who sends videos and pics of him working out in a daily basis in a group text, drive me crazy. SUPER GAY. I love working out but I don’t understand the need to constantly be seeking attention.
Is Crossfit a cult?
I personally think apple is a cult....... LolYou do know that you can remove yourself from group texts, right? Just like Facebook, receiving these kinds of ridiculous “look at me” updates are completely voluntary.
CrossFit is a business. I believe the company collects licensing fees from the gyms. Any business that has extreme levels of brand loyalty will exhibit cult-like characteristics. Is Apple a cult?
If I need something to sit my drink on, I'll buy a PC. Apple computers actually work.

Ohhhh snap!If I need something to sit my drink on, I'll buy a PC. Apple computers actually work.
but lasts 5 x longer. And it only costs three times the amount it should!
I'm a fan of CF and will be one of the first to admit it's easy to make fun of; sure I'll joke and tell folks I'm part of the "cult" and while I would not send out videos and pics to some group text, why is that "SUPER GAY" as opposed "SUPER ANNOYING"?
Many Crossfitters and gyms/boxes/whatever don't provide adequate instruction, but plenty do. Do most "24-hr fitness" type gyms offer any instruction at all to anyone not paying extra for personal training? Is that training any good? The two-time reigning CF Games Champion (female) has competed at the Olympic level and doesn't seem to have sloppy form. Again, I admit it's easy to make fun of but I have known plenty of folks whose lives have been changed by it so who I am to judge it?
It's like saying ALL anesthesiologists dick around on their phones during cases, don't care about their patients, cut corners, etc and sold out to AMCs...
Why is it so easy to generalize about some other community and then take offense like some baby when the surgical community makes generalizations about your community that you feel aren't true?

You can't really compare a Walmart bargain PC to an Apple.
If you spend 3/4 or as much on a high end PC as the Apple sells for, you'll get a laptop that's better than the Apple that will last. It also won't be encumbered by all of the Apple training wheels, software shortages, and the oily slick of smug that coats all Apple products. I mean, you can't wash that off. Even with caviwipes.
Of course, if you need the training wheels and thee hipster cred at the coffee shop, then of course Apple is the better choice.
but lasts 5 x longer.
Personal experience buying Apple for the first time:
Apple macbook pro - bought in 2014 for 1200 dollars. still going strong. infact using it to type this post.
HP laptop bought in jan 2016 - bought or $580 - glitchy/slow/super annoying by Sept 2016. havent used it much over the last two years.
I’ve had an iMac and a MacBook Air and they both crumped after about two years of light-moderate smut on the internet
My last two Dell PCs have been voluntarily retired after 5+years of said smut surfing. They gradually got slower but never had catastrophic crashes like the apples.
I don’t know if Apple gives you hipster cred in the coffee shops anymore. It’s much more ironic to pull out a Dell.

Exactly this. My 2012 MacBook Pro works great. I bought a Dell last year and at this point it’s a piece of modern art in the living room.
wait so you bought an apple laptop for 2x the cost as PC and the apple is running better? no way!
I've been using PC forever. had zero problems ever. my current desktop is 8 years old. still running strong. my HP laptop is 7 years old, and only thing i had to do was replace the battery once cause it wasn't lasting as long as i'd liked which is expected for such an old computer. Neither the PC nor desktop cost more than 650$. if you want high end PC experience, i'd suggest spending apple dollars. spend 1200 on a PC laptop and notice how amazing it is. super smooth
So PC is for left brain people, Mac for R ones.i will give you this. for business applications and gaming, yes, a high end PC is cost effective. if you notice industries such as music, film, and art, Mac is pretty much the standard and I'd argue that it's because of their ease of use and reliability. Every music studio, movie production studio, photography studio etc has a Mac at the center of the setup.

Boys and girls, pls cross your fingers. Which thumb is on the top?
Mine is the right one, and I am PC exclusive. You do know that the left brain controls the right thumb.
That's one niche where (for purely software reasons and industry inertia) Macs do well.i will give you this. for business applications and gaming, yes, a high end PC is cost effective. if you notice industries such as music, film, and art, Mac is pretty much the standard and I'd argue that it's because of their ease of use and reliability. As said above, I'd argue it's more hipster to NOT use an Apple product. That's one niche where (for purely software reasons and industry inertia) Macs do well.
Show me 20 coffee shop hipsters with their iPhones and Macs and other assorted iDevices, and I'll show you 20 people who don't actually work in commercial music, film, and art. 🙂
Apple is a triumph of marketing. The days when Apple products "just worked" while PC products were complex and crash prone are easily a decade+ in the past. I remember Windows 95 crashing multiple times per day. The Blue Screen Of Death was a weekly (at least) occurrence on Windows NT workstations. If you added hardware to PCs, you had to know what IRQ and DMA meant and sometimes hardware dipswitches had to be set. The SCSI bus had to be properly configured and terminated. IDE devices needed a master and slave. And of course, if you were moderately gullible or a slow learner, your PC was vulnerable to viruses and worms and other malware. But even Windows "just works" these days.
Meanwhile, Apple product QC isn't what it used to be.
I had an iPhone 3-something, 4-something, and 6-something. I have an Android phone now. I can't imagine ever going back.
Ok, intertwine your L and R fingers, with instinct. You cross your fingers with... your thumbs? Interesting!

The CrossFit creator has found himself in some hot water, rightfully so:
CrossFit gym chain comes under fire after a franchise owner cancels an LGBTQ Pride Month workout
No. Apple is so ingrained in their culture as righteous and PC is so ingrained as "the devil" that if one does have the uncontrollable urge to be ironic and give up Apple, they go straight back to the typewriter. As said above, I'd argue it's more hipster to NOT use an Apple product.
Apple is very much like the Democratic Party - they both think they know what’s best for you.
So I tell most medical students that if they want to make a killing become an orthopod and open up shop right between a trampoline store and a CrossFit gym.
Crossfit is idiotic. I do Orange Theory for cardio workouts and lift weights on my own. OT is mindless cause someone just tells you what to do for an hour, but it makes me do way more cardio than I'd ever do on my own.

Seems like you should just run from the police then. As a bonus, you might even get away and get to keep that sweet new TV!+1, not many men in OT but I’d be hard pressed to get a better workout in an hour without running from the police.
Plenty of folks getting hurt with basketball, football, and baseball too. Better get rid of those sports as well!
I CrossFit, and I enjoy it. Gets me in shape and I’ve made good friends. Do people go over the top? Sure. Same as anything else.
I don’t like a lot of other workouts and exercise plans, but I’m not going to hate on them. Good for anyone who’s trying to get in shape.
The absolute worst product by Apple in the last 10 years is probably the iPad Pro. It’s terrible. The battery literally dies while it’s plugged in.
Back to CrossFit. I’ve always questioned CrossFit and especially the CrossFit games when, dare I say, all your athletes for the most part “look the same”
Yep, our orthopods see a glut of injuries from cross fit - these are young, healthy patients typically with solid private insurance. Love all around for CrossFit with us.
I don’t mind looking at a couple good looking women while doing 1000 meter rows.
+1, not many men in OT but I’d be hard pressed to get a better workout in an hour without running from the police.
