Hi everyone!

I am in need of advice. So....I am yet another US citizen FMG who has fell victim to the new CS exam. I took it in April and did not pass, because of CIS. I have submitted a recheck and registered for a new exam, however scores wont be back until after the sept 15 app deadline (yikes!!!). I'd like some honest feedback about my chances and also if I should wait until mid Oct-early November when my scores will be available to transmit, or transmit them for the app deadline and then re-transmit. I went to a reputable undergraduate, have research, a publication, volunteer work, awards, research grants, a good step 1 and and ok step 2 ck. All USCE and 4 LORs from US clinical professors. Im def applying to fam med broadly and potentially OB.

Difficult to estimate your chances without knowing actual scores. The definition of a good step 1 is variable. To you it might mean 225, to others, it might be 250. Same goes for step 2. So without having specifics, it's hard to estimate. However, the cold hard fact remains that you did fail CS. This is a red flag and will certainly eliminate you from some interview pools.

I would personally transmit all scores for the Sept 15th deadline and then retransmit as your new score for CS comes in. At least the programs that invite you for an interview will know that you have failed CS, rather than hiding the CS fail and them finding out while you are interviewing you.

As you stated, and I agree with, apply broadly. Apply very broadly. Better to spend the extra money and be able to turn down interviews than not. 100+ at very least. And apply to IMG friendly places. G-luck.
