So, this may be my situation as of now. I applied to a bunch of schools, but only have interviews at a handful of places. CSPP- SF is my only PhD interview, the rest are PsyD's, so it looks like I will be paying for my degree :-(

Anyway, I love research so am more interested in the PhD. Could anyone tell me about the CSPP in SF? I understand it has mixed reviews, but I really want to start school this fall-- so if you are going to just bash the school- please do not reply. I need constructive feedback. Did anyone else apply there or currently go there?

If I do not go there, my other option could be to get a PhD in social psychology (also not funded) and later respecialize.

As far as long-term career goals, I would like to do both research and clinical practice.

i dont know anything about the curriculum / program but i can tell you this.. my therapist received her psyD from CSPP -SF and she is sooooo knowelagble about everything, great knowlege of the neuroscience and how different parts of the brain impact us, even about medicine, i could go on...

I have worked with many and trained several CSPP-SF PhD students that were smart and well-prepared and satisfied with their school experience. Like any professional school, they take a large class and you need to think about the debt. But if this is your viable option and you can afford it, I think you can get a good professional school education there and successfully enter the field.
