Is anyone else getting frustrated with schools in the North East? I live in CT and I own a home with my girlfriend so I wanted to land a spot in one of the CT or MA programs close to home to avoid relocating but it is proving to be far more difficult than I had anticipated. For this cycle I applied to Uconn, Sacred Heart, UHart, Springfield College, and BU. BU I was not accepted right away, Springfield I was not accepted because they didn’t have any seats, Uconn I was not accepted because my GRE was 6 points below what they considered Ideal, Uhart told me I’m waitlisted at #2 but not to get too hopeful because all seats go to undergrad students first, Sacred Heart waitlisted and still waiting to find out where I am on the wait list. I’m really starting to get discouraged, is anyone else finding it this difficult to get into a local program? How many schools should I have applied to?
G.P.A- 3.4
Pre req- 3.6
GRE 148Q 154V AW 4.0
Observation hours >100

PT school is competetive, and I have heard that the average person applies to around 10 schools. I don't know about PT schools in the northeast, but I know in the southeast most schools seem to have an average GPA of at least 3.6 with several at 3.8+. Not saying that you won't get in anywhere with a 3.4, but unfortunately with how competitive it is many people don't get in to local schools and have to travel, and it is certainly normal to have to wait on a waiting list until late March or early April to hopefully get some good news.

Hopefully those wait lists will move for you.

I'm curious about UCONN. Who gave you the six point figure, and was that for the combined total? I haven't been able to find anything on their website about the average GRE score of their accepted applicants. Thanks.

Yeah, the GPA sounds about the same for up here as well. We'll see what happens with the wait lists. If I don't get in this cycle I'm definitely going to retake the GRE (with adequate time to prepare) and then apply to at least 10 schools.

Did you apply to UCONN for this cycle or are you applying in the future? I spoke with Katrease Sharavolli and she was very straight forward about why I didn't get selected for this cycle, and that was because of my GRE total (verbal and quantitative 302) they don't include the AW in their GRE total but it is still a factor in their overall decision.

Thanks for the info.

It's my daughter who actually will be applying in the upcoming cycle. She's taking the GRE Sunday, and she's super nervous about it.

Good luck to you.
