1.A pt. telephoned tht she broke off a big piece of her upper left back tooth. An emergency office visit between pts.revelead tht facial portion of the upper left second molar was sheared off levl wih the gingival tissue.A MOD nlay in tht tooth was loose and it was removed. No pulp exposure was evident, but the tooth was sensitive. The patient cannot be seen again for 2 weeks.
The Rx at this time wud be best to-

A.smooth the rough edgesand reappoint.
B.place zinc phosphate cement temporary restoration.
C.place a zinc oxide eugenol cement temporary restoration.
D.cement on a metal band or shell with reinforced zinc oxide cement.
E.dismiss the pt.with out further intervention until the next visit.

2.The factor in design of the abutment preparation for a RPDwhich must be determined before initiating Rx of the abutment teeth is the-
A.location of the rests and clasps
B.no. of teeth to be replaced by the partial denture
C.cusp inclines to be used in selecting the replacement teeth
D.composition of the denture material which is supported by the edentulous areas
E.all of the above.

I think the answer for #1 is C because tooth is sensitive and you need to put something sedative to protect the pulp. If endo treated, then, just smooth off rough edges. I don't think you should recement the inlay/onlay because the buccal wall is broken off and there may not be enough retention with a temporary cement.

For #2, I don't understand the question totally, but I guess it is A because cusp inclination, choice of material can be determined in the lab.

i think da answer for #1 s D.....since da facial wall s missing it needs to b reinforced by metal band as patient cant b seen for 2 wks n its possibl the tooth may broke during dat time n moreovr zno-eug will help relieving senstivity..................correct me if m wrong

yes, i anticipated D as the correct ans too.thnx to both of u for taking the efforts to ans.
