is there a way to find out which schools take your cummulative GPA vs. which schools take your pre-pharm GPA? i've been talking to an advisor from University of Oklahoma and she tells me that they use the cumulative GPA to evaluate their applicants whereas the advisor from Univeristy of Florida tells me they use the "pre-pharm" GPA to evaluate their applicants.

thanks

Most schools AC are composed to faculty. There are min requirements to be accepted; however, I think each committee member may have somewhat different desires for a particular student.

I think in general they may look at overall GPA to get a sense of who is in what pile. Then the good pile goes to the AC and the bad pile gets held back. Then the AC goes to work hashing through all the info.

As a group they go through and look at a variety of things and each considers several issues. Some may see something positive about an applicant that another member missed. It is a group effort.

AC = admissions committee

Sorry for the shorthand

Plus, most basic scientists look at prereq science courses while clincal types may look at overall. At least that has been my take at several schools.

But regardless, prereqs are prereqs....there is a reason you take them. They provide a foundation for you pharmacy education. Some members want to see that your foundation is strong rather than just having a pretty overall yard 😀

does anyoen know what is pre-pharm GPA.....does that include like the 3 courses in humanities and the speech and econ, etc.

What are sciences gpa?? Do they include sciences that are not pharm pre-reqs, such as an an introductory chem or bio course??
