I had this really weird dream last night, long story short I woke up asking myself "How much does an average person spend taking care of their teeth?" Let's say we include the cost of a toothbrush, toothpaste, floss, mouthwash, dental braces, and regular dentist visits. How much would that add up in a year? In a lifetime?! Just me being curious haha

hmmmm now you got me thinking...

Assuming you spend $5 for toothpaste (and lasts you couple months)... so say $15 a year for paste

ur supposed to throw away the toothbrush every 3-4 months. So 4 toothbrushes every year, thats about $15

you go to ur dentist for cleaning 2x a year... lets say $200 per visit

you did extract the 4 wisdom teeth, thats about $400 lifetime cost.

Average person lives (what? 75 years now?) so
(15+15) * 75 = 2250 + 400 (wisdoms) + $15,000 (dental visits) = almost 20k

HOWEVER, thats assuming your teeth were perfect, never needed a filling, crown, root canal, never extracted, never did ortho, never dentures, nothing.

DentalWorks, I like the breakdown but that's purely for out of pocket costs. If one pays for insurance the cost varies wildly in premiums and in additional up-charges. I think 20k is a safe estimate, but it's likely more.
