It really depends on the particular test you get. The orgo has been minimized slightly but it's def still there. Will you have Biochem under your belt? I would probably say physics would be the better option just because there's more physics to learn than orgo.

Hi everyone, I am currently a freshman at a UC school and I was wondering if the newer versions of the MCAT have a lot more organic chemistry. I will be taking a summer course in the summer of 2018, but I'm not sure if I should take either physics or organic chemistry during the summer. Does the MCAT cover a lot more physics compared to Ochem or vice-versa?

Thanks

Mine was definitely more orgo heavy; and the orgo stuff can lay the foundation for biochem which you will see a lot of.

I took the MCAt without physics 2 and scored >90 percentile. IMO the physics on the MCAT can be taught to yourself without too much trouble, but it is always best to see the material in a class first.

Generally it covers more physics. But each exam is different t.

I spent a lot of time studying physics...not so much time on orgo. My C/P section ended up being 40% gen chem, 20%physics, 20% orgo, and 20% biochem by my estimation. Don't ignore either...ended up getting 130 (518 overall)

Though I took the exam last year, I recall my C/P section having 6 passages that were organic chemistry heavy. That said, it solely depends on the exam you get.

my test was heavy on physics. i cant remember having more than 1-2 orgo questions (one was about conjugated systems) out of the 59 questions. i got a 130 as well, and studied everything that could possibly be on the test without cutting any corners

more important than both physics and orgo is biochemistry though. i recommend taking biochem (i think its required at some schools now). know your amino acids!

Can't cut corners if you're gonna call the Dragon of the Darkness Flame 😉

But srsly, study everything. As others have mentioned, you should be prepared to take a full C/P section that covers only one topic lol

Nice to see another YYH fan around here
