Hmmm....I checked the sites and the prices are around $250-$300 for the lead aprons. Thyroid shields (extra) are much cheaper, but I couldn't find any aprons for $48. Or did I just misunderstand your comment above?😕

I did not mean lead aprons were $48 if you find a place where they are that cheap please let us know that would be awesome!!! i did mean the thyroid collars when i was referring to the site. but if you look around they do have the cheapest prices around when compared to other places. plus they have good quantity discounts on some items, so if you are able to order with others it can greatly reduce the cost per item. Oh i took a look and found a cheaper lead apron $145.20 hope this helps!!

Sorry... I thought you meant the aprons were $48...I doubt I could find one that cheap, at least not a new one! 😀

Thanks...I'm sure others appreciate the information.

Ha ha no worries it would be nice if we could find some that cheap we could all use a break. Medical supplies can be so expensive.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but that chlorhexidine crap is a lot easier on the skin than betadine. It's the stuff that comes in the red and white box. I used to have really dry skin that the betadine just killed. I switched to the chlorhexidine, and it was like night and day.

Recently though, I've just been using the foam stuff. I've heard you're supposed to scrub the first time and then use the foam on subsequent cases, but everyone here uses it the first time too.

This is very embarrassing to report, but I didn't learn until my 4th year that it matters what direction you hold the suture scissors: the screw-side of the scissors should point up when cutting. (Needless to say, I am not going into a surgical specialty. I think a career in arts & crafts is out also)

With the surgical masks I can't ever get them to sit right on my face. Sometimes it pushes up against the bottom of my eyes, or scratches below my neck. Is there some trick to putting these on so they don't irritate or obstruct your vision?

I always had the problem of fogging up my face shield w/ my breath - no matter how i positioned an pinched, after a while it would fog and I would spend the rest of the proceedure trying to see through whatever portion of the shield was left clear

i was able to solve this w/ a piece of tape across the bridge of my nose/top of mask, to prevent my hot a$$ breath from rising up and fogging up my face shield.......a piece of tape across the to of the mask, securing it to your nose would probably be just as helpful to you keep your mask in place
