There's a big thread on another board I post on, regarding this. The thread's OP takes about 20 prescriptions, and has been getting several phone calls EVERY.SINGLE.DAY from CVS reminding her that she has refills, and she's kind of stuck with CVS because she lives alone and cannot drive, and would have to take 2 buses to use another store. 😡

The ideas given to her to get this to stop have been many - the BBB (probably a waste of time), the attorney general, etc. This woman is actually considering having her lawyer write a cease and desist letter to CVS, for all the good it would probably do.

I am sure there is an opt out provision. Legally I think they are required to have one.

I agree. At Walgreens there is an option in the patient's profile that can be selected so that they do not receive phone calls.

She did that, and they're STILL calling.

Call 1-800-SHOP-CVS, spend 5-10 minutes navigating through the dialing options to get through to a real person and request to be removed from the corporate phone call list.

There is an even better number to call to opt out, but I don't have it on me right now.

OP are you a knitter or crocheter?

There is an opt out for all automated calls. The store should have the number or she can call 1-800-shop-cvs

Was told by the trainer last week (just starting an internship) that it's as simple as taking their contact number out of the phone number line and putting it in the "notes" section of the profile. Computer then has no number to call, but we can see it if we need it in the store.

This is a terrible option. Use the system the way it was intended and have them removed the automated calls. It's not that hard to do the right thing.

i agree one simple call and the problem is done- also she may want to call the cvs and have them put in her number and make sure no one else has that number linked to their profile.

I'm a tech at CVS and i'd love to see this other board too. I'll try to find the opt out number as well

Every so often it prints out on regular paper with a prescription much like a med guide would. When it does, write down the number or keep the paper. Every so often CVS changes the number. I guess it would be more accurate to say, I have seen the number change in the past.

sounds like a knitting/crocheting board.

Hah! Zing.

okay, i work next on labor day, i got this week off 🙂

hey! my wife is crocheting next to me right now! She makes great scarfs and hats, if anyone wants one...lol

put a fake # in their phone field, then put their real number as a "note" (i'm not sure how the new system works, but under rx2000 this is what we'd do).

This works, but is not ideal. You actually get docked points for having too many invalid phone numbers, plus it just complicates matters. It really is not hard to be removed from the auto-call list if that is what the customer wants.

oh i assumed this was already attempted

haha the other option is to have a google voice # and use that. I use one for all my business uses (ie banking, pharmacy, grocery stores) so if someone does call, it goes straight to voice mail and i'll get an email of the transcript to read at my leisure.

but sounds like the person may be technically challenged so no go.
