So I took a quick look at the letter that EVERY major pharmacy organization/business submitted to Obama's newly appointed Health Reform Czar and noticed the absence of CVS's endorsement:

Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy
American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy American College of Clinical Pharmacy
American Pharmacists Association
American Society of Consultant Pharmacists
American Society of Health-System Pharmacists
Food Marketing Institute
National Alliance of State Pharmacy Association
National Association of Chain Drug Stores
National Community Pharmacists Association
Rite Aid Corporation
Walgreen Co.

This fact, coupled with the fact that this "reformer" also sits on the Board of Directors for Medco is a little suspicious to me:

So what do you all think...

Is this the beginning of a PBM takeover by the "reformer"?

Or just another conspiracy theory?

PS...I'm not a conservative bashing Obama...I voted for him...but what happened to all the ethics BS about not hiring lobbyists? WTF???

Not hiring a lobbyist/someone connected to a lobbyist is downright impossible in the arena of politics. Hell, I've done some lobbying at the state level.

Even hiring one that sits on the Board of Directors for a company of the industry they are hired to "reform"???

Talk about conflict of interest.

How could you possibly reform health care without the input of the managed care industry? Not that they should have veto, but they should have a voice.

well medco did reduce a lot of costs. it's natural the government would want someone experienced with that to help engineer changes

Yes let's find someone to help spearhead healthcare reform who has absolutely no experience dealing with the policy aspects of healthcare. This is a good idea.

To keep it short: there is a 1-5% chance of the dramatic change we really need in our system, Obama has determined that this isn't as big of a deal as other stuff he's currently trying to do, Emanuel et al are going to insure that the for-profit industry does not die, and the taxpayer and patients everywhere are most likely only going to get lip service.

I'm guessing there will be a watered down "mandate" that everyone have insurance, and Obama will plead with the insurance companies to PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE NOT RAISE PREMIUMS and they'll say OK WE WON'T RAISE PREMIUMS*. Obama gets his healthcare reform passed (political win), appeases the insurance companies (big win for most dems and GOPers), and most people glaze their eyes and mindlessly applaud the "reform" whilst not realizing they are not getting jack****, only further subsidization of our ridiculous and unsustainable healthcare system.

*(we'll just have 75 different "tiers" and will not allow certain people access to cheaper plans)
