My brother is supposed to go to an intern summer kickoff type thing for cvs tomm but hes unsure whether he actually wants to go or not, mainly because they place where theyre having it is an hour away.

Does anyone know what they do at these things? Is it worth driving the hour that early in the morning lol?
Thanks!!

Just my opinion, but nothing says "team player" like skipping an intern summer kickoff thing because of an hour long drive.

He's weird and annoying. Im asking on here just to humor him.:meanie: I think hes trying to avoid someone but idkkk. but do you know what they do there lol?

No. If it's voluntary then it's probably a getting to know you type of thing. Just a guess. I have no idea what the specific "events" would be. If it were me I would make it a point to go.

I did a summer internship with CVS after my P1 year. I had to drive an hour to get to the location, which was then exacerbated by the traffic on the way back.

Honestly, it's going to be a bit slow at a CVS Kick-Off.

On one hand, there is the typical new-employee orientation-type stuff. There are a couple of forms that they will hand to you (such as confidentiality forms and new employee type stuff) that will need to be filled out. They will also outline company policies, obligations, and expectations for the summer.

On the other hand, there's a fair bit of "cheerleading" and motivational-type hyping up stuff. This part will probably feel a bit drole to a lot of people.

Personally, I would go regardless of however I felt about the Kick-Off. 95% of it will feel unnecessary, but you never want to provide unfavorable images that could get noticed. Some PIC's and pharmacists will be there, and if one of them happens to work at your store and be on the look-out for you, then it's going to reflect poorly that they took the time to seek you out only to find out that you decided to skip out for the sake of personal convenience. Your District Manager will also likely be there, and chances are, you'll have a few district meetings during the summer where he or she could give you an uncomfortable stare.

Lastly... I think our Kick-Off was mandatory. If your brother hasn't already sent an e-mail about some ambiguous excuse, it's probably too late to save face. Additionally, I'm pretty sure that there's a sign-in sheet at the front door. And, the forms that you have to pick-up or sign at the meeting are things that you'll want to get over with.

In short, just tell him to go. No one expects him to like being there, but unless he lives 3 hours out and it's downpouring, the only thing stopping him is laziness. At the very least, the lunch that's provided is pretty decent.

When the hell did they start this intern kickoff thing? I don't remember any kickoffs or anything in my district. Only bowling events when people go from P3 to P4.

Rite Aid doesn't even have bowling 🙁

I keep asking my pharmacy manager why our district doesn't have a company picnic or something. She says "it's Rite Aid"...truth in that.

See if their taking applications. The one that I applied to wanted an experienced tech. If you're good with Rx2000, you should be good at Costco since they use Rx-90. Rx-90 is a really antiquated system though. It was introduced in 1978. :O I guess Rx2000 is an updated version of that.

when i called and asked they said that they were a union and hired from within their own company? the pharmacist told me to fill out an application, but the only one i found online was just a general store one, and there was no way to specify pharmacy lol

Full time Costco pharmacy techs are union workers. Not if you're part time or per diem.

so the application i should use is just the one thats on their website thats for all warehouse workers?

Funny... those applications go right into the trash bin as soon as you hand them over... For one they look at your availability first, if it isn't a good match, game over -.-
