I got a phone interview after failing the virtual job tryout. I know I failed because I received multiple rejections via emails from all the positions I applied to at the same time. I am surprised to receive a phone interview from them. Will I get denied if they offer me a job at CVS?

What the hell is a virtual job tryout? Do you go through some kind of simulation where you hear constant phone ringing and drive-thru bell as you try to complete as many prescriptions as possible?

They ask you questions about what you would do in certain situations. I put the perfect answers just like the way I work in the pharmacy. I read online that our answers suppose to be consistent and our answers suppose to match those that work at CVS.

I’m going to echo this ^

This sounds like an interview with the glorified name “job tryout”. I’m honestly curious though, if you put the perfect answers down shouldn’t you have passed?

Was there a hands-on portion to this tryout or just like a primary interview before a secondary? What qualifies this as a job tryout and not your average interview? (Not being sardonic I’m really interested on what they did)

Here is a link of it. Join #TeamCVS - we're hiring! | Virtual Job Tryout - Retail - CVS Health

They claim the answers are common sense. It consists of multiple sections. One of the sections shows you a prescription label and you have to pick if the medication name is correct/wrong,dose,strength, refills, and Dr. name. I am sure I got all these correct. I am assuming that I put answers for behavior questions that aren't consistent.

lol I've worked with cvs in the past. this is new to me. so after a regular interview, you have to go through these exercises to get a score and they compare it to other interviewees?

It's a bull**** program that has the gravity of a feather. Your phone interview is what will matter. Pay this "Virtual Job Tryout" no mind.

So a candidate is given an interview and told to go apply online as it is part of the hiring process. That candidate does not pass the online portion of the hiring process that might have same equivalency as a background check or a drug test for a huge company like CVS. That test is outsourced to a 3rd party and results might not be accessible at a team leader level?

I would love to be proven wrong in this matter and it is a bs program but we are talking about CVS.

It's like "Whack a mole". Except instead of moles, dinguses pop out of phones and drive-thru windows and beat the **** out of you.

Seriously though, you guys haven't heard of this? I'm pretty sure if you fail it you're ineligible for hire for 6mo. Any CVSers can confirm?

Edit: I believe an exemption can be pursued, but it's a lengthy process and has to be cleared by RM.

If you fail the computer virtual job try out, they won't hire you. They test basic competency "trick" questions.

Can't speak on the pharmacist end but I know that if you're applying for a tech position and failed the VJT, you don't show up as an applicant. Idk how many times I get calls asking about their application and I can't even see their name listed as a potential candidate.

On another note, when I was promoted to PIC 2-3 years ago I had to take the VJT and was told that I better not fail or I would have to wait another 2 months to retake it. Pretty much implying that if I don't pass I won't be getting that measly raise they promised me until I get promoted in the system.

I found out that the answers are very easy and you can go on youtube to find out how to pass it. They add a lot of answer choices that confuse you if your English is not your first language.

This “online interview” is a new thing for cvs. Not even sure what theyre basing their hiring process anymore but im sure its all part of their big plan to take care of the patients and their employees...

Puhahahahahahahahahaha...

I also failed the virtual tryout 🙁 . What should I do if I really want a job with CVS

Just curious. Why do you want to work for one of the worst companies in the business? ... probably one of the worst companies, period.

And don't forget- to really ace it, you have to beat the "boss a**hole" at the end. It's either a DM or store manager, each brandishing a long cactus which they will try to violently shove up your ass as you bag groceries... If you escape with your anal virginity intact, you're in for sure...

When I tried to use a**hole without the ** it changed it to "dingus"....

Even if the employer wants to hire you, they won't be able to because you failed the virtual job tryout (unless they make some calls to override this). I had the same thing happen to me when I applied.

Any idea what the virtual job tryout is like or how to prepare? Have an opportunity to move back home ( and yes I know it’s CVS) but getting back home is the first step.
