Hi all!
I am a 6th year student, and have been an intern with CVS for the last 4 years. I had my pharmacist interviews back in April, and just got my job offer today! I am wondering if anyone else has heard back with CVS job offers? This applies for both interns/non-interns. I am wondering if you all would like to compare offers? I am curious to see if interns are getting smaller offers because they expect us to stay.

Thanks for your input!!
And congrats and good luck to everyone!!!!

I have heard a rumor from those that got CVS offers all got offered the same amount, despite the location. If that's true, kind of sucks to live in a higher cost of living area.

I think the offer for Wags and CVS is more like $58 for cities and $62 for crappy rural places.

BS.

I got $57 per hour at high volume.

A friend got $60 per hour in Cali.

Northern NJ
2011 grads - $52/hr ... $57 if you work nights
2012 grads - $53.50/hr .... $58.50 if you work nights

I will ask the kids who go offers graduating 2013 what their rate is

Based on info from new grads in FL, this will be the 2nd consecutive year that starting salaries in the area have declined or stayed stagnant. Should expect something ~54$/hr

Do your night folks get 7 on 7 off?
Work 70 or 72 get paid for 80?

I have always thought that 40 hours a week is too little. I have always worked at least 50-60 hours a week.

If you work 40 hours a week for a specific retailer, is it common for a pharmacist to get a second job as a part time fill in pharmacist somewhere for the extra money?

What is the most common way to make extra money as a pharmacist besides working the common 40 hours a week at ~50 bucks per hour?

The numbers being tossed around are less than I expected for retail. My wife working LTC make mid $50s, and that's in Ohio and Texas. Has retail chains overall faired poorly or this is just a CVS thing?

Location location location! If you review the locations closely youll see that the #'s make sense.

FWIW , i've been hearing numbers in the $60-65/hr range for rural midwest and even some urban midwest.

Last year's grads got $57.50 here in a large city in the west (not california)

Florida is infamous for lower pay rates due to low COL and a large supply of pharmacists.

NJ, you get lower pay due to desirability and proximity to NYC and again high supply.

Philly, other NE urban markets, youre going to see the same issues.

New grads are getting 90k 32hr/week contracts in fl it seems like. It has begun

The chains forbid their employees from working for competitors, but you can still work in a different setting like a hospital. Or you can just pickup overtime in your own chain. I make about $20k extra doing this.

I started at $56, but I've gotten two pretty decent raises in consecutive years. The raises and their amount have surprised me. I don't know if its because my boss think I'm doing a knock out job or what...

I'm not CVS so... But I'm surprised by my yearly increase as well. Seems like I get a solid 2% every year which I think is awesome especially when 2% is like $1+

.

Here in Milwaukee, we are being paid in that area.

We needed a number of new pharmacists for the market, and all of them came from Illinois.

Louisiana...Wags giving 90k with 32 hours

So many people hear "90k" and think.. "OMG this is not over 100k! Pharmacy is dead!!"

But they fail to see - 32 hours... 32 hours is nothing.. This leaves 3 more work days for the week. Get a second job and make 30k more. This makes your earning potential more like 120k.

Never said that lol...right now my income is $0.00 so I will gladly take 90k with 32 hours because I like my time off anyway ;)

Yea - I didn't mean you. I just keep hearing how pharmacists are making under 100k over and over again and it is coupled with the death of the profession.

well they are only able to get 32 hours...

That depends on the area. South Florida grads are guaranteed minimum $92k/32hrs, but all the new grads past year have been getting 40hrs consistently with most picking up available overtime too. But, I do agree, the trends are not good.

I remember starting at $44 an hour with CVS in 2004. When i left in 2009 i left at $57.52. Salaries seem stagnant.

Stagnant? 3% annual increase ($44-->$55/hr) in starting hourly wage over 8 years doesn't seem too bad. Definitely beats inflation over the past 8 years.

CORRECTION: $44 adjusted for inflation is $53.88/hr... so yea, relatively stagnant. Only a 2% increase over 8 years. Stagnant it is!

Sorry, i meant stagnant compared to when i left to today.

Let me be more specific:
Starting rate: $44/hr summer 2004
Promoted to rx manager 3 months after licensed: $46/hr fall 2004
yearly raise summer 2005: $47.84
changed to a different store summer 2005: No raise, $47.84
Changed to a really busy store, asked for raise winter 2006: $49.75
yearly raise summer 2006: $51.74
yealy raise summer 2007: $53.81
yearly raise and told supervisor store was too busy not enough help. I want out: increased to $57.84.

2009, quit CVS. Opened store. never looked back.

$44? Jesus. My offer was $57 and that was with minimal retail experience.

two people in my class got offers from CVS.

In CA, 60 is normal. But that doesn't mean chit since we have 9.3% tax. So your hourly rate is really only 54. Houses also cost 2.5x as much as average. Pharmacist - poor here lol

Time to move

Intern in Baltimore just got 55/hr for a high volume store.

Been getting 54/hr for high volume store. Did almost 500 on a saturday on my own. On top a that am helping with register, fill, phones, because they cut techs. Its really draining.

Miami, FL

The professions been dead for the past couple years. It's ruined. Ask any old pharmacist. That is, if you see any old pharmacists. Most have been replaced by newbees. We have 5 pharmacy schools in Florida and they are about to open another one. Pharmacy is dead.

No way that can be a CVS unless there is a pharmacist shortage in your area.

I started at a little bit over 57 in 2009. I make over 65/hr now.
