CVS Will Offer Next-Day Delivery of Prescription Drugs

I know it is an old article, but what are your thoughts? Good idea? Bad idea? Will it go the way of CVS curbside?

There's also going to be "On Demand Delivery,promise time of 4 hours. Patients will also have the option to add OTC products with their prescriptions. Its going to be a s**t show

Its going to be “interesting” to say they least. On one hand you have a company that is IT centric and on another hand you have a company thats still working with fax machines. I think CVSs attempt to combat Amazon will make its shortcomings more apparent, in which case the aftermath will be a further consolidation of its retail stores and all retail chains in general.

I'm sure there's going to be a lot of complaints once more of these lacking details are elaborated upon, such as 24 hour store exceptions (yes, there will be people who expect 3am delivery), reconstitution drugs (wtf? No mention in what few learn-net modules there are), drugs not valid for delivery (controls, refrigerated drugs), summertime deliveries (leaving drugs outside in say 90+ degree F weather), & my god the returns (see your state laws...technically these drugs have already left the pharmacy but get returned if not picked up...lots of potential waste...thanks CVS).

The addition of OTC items is just ridiculous...curbside pickup should be FS only, not Rx. **** show indeed

Sounds similar to how a lot of grocery stores and club warehouses have order-on-line and pick-up-at-the-curb services. Personally, I think this is the wave of the future, and almost all businesses will go to this model (the best ones adding on home delivery.) Now whether CVS's first take at this will work.....well, that depends on whether they are willing to hire enough people to make it work.

If they can reduce the time that I spend at pickup then it will be worth it. But CVS makes alot of money because people come in and buy other stuff while picking up there drugs.

I don't know about yous guys but doesn't it take longer to sort through thousands of items online & have someone deliver them to you seem even more time consuming & just lazy? 1st World country problems....I think everyone (general mass) could use some much needed exercise & do things for themselves (don't get me wrong, this can be quite useful for disabled persons/elderly w/o caregivers, special needs, etc.).

It’s not about what everyone could or should use or do. It’s about what everyone will do. If everyone excercised ate better diets and took care of themselves more that’d be fantastic and there’d likely be way less demand for us. But businesses gonna business and sell what the masses want not what they deserve. Call it right or call it wrong but that’s what it is.

This is simply a play to preempt amazon, very few people are actually going to use this service because of all the stipulations and restrictions, but also do not forget that the delivery fee will be at least $7. I am not worried about this taking hold in the slightest unless they remove the delivery fee.

Rite aid has been delivering for a while now. As long as the patients never received the rx's they can come back into the store. Patients had to be home for rx's and sign. Could not be left at the door. Worst part was the people who wanted you to shop for them out front. That was a pita.

Yup, the drive thru can be 10 cars deep and no one at pickup but people will still use drive thru cause they're lazy. Even the teenagers would rather stay in their car. Everyday someone at drive thru wants us to be their personal shopper for front door items too.
