Does anyone know how stepping down as PIC to another district as a staff RPh affects pay? For example:

My current base = 38 hours
Position as staff RPh = 42 hours

Would that mean my hourly rate stays the same and I would get paid for an extra 4 hours per week?

Or does it mean that my annual salary would remain the same, but I have to work an extra 4 hours per week to keep that?

Dependent on each individual situation, from what I've heard. There's a lot of threads on this if you search.

When I did it there was no change in hourly rate.

Does it look bad to step down from PIC to staff at any company. At Walmart there is definitely talk about the staff who used to be a manager and it's never flattering.

Yup, this was my experience as well.

For the OP, my hourly rate stayed the same but my base hours went up so my annual salary increased. I didn't change districts but otherwise sounds like what you are planning.

Well, I wouldn't call it a career building move, so obviously it depends on what your goals/priorities are.

I had a staff tell me she used to be the manager, but stepped down for health reasons. The techs told a different story... Also, she is at the same store and I was told Walmart won't keep you at the same store if you step down as rx manager because it's kind of a conflict with the new manager, but it's happened at 3 stores in our district that I know of...

CVS pays their staff and rx manager the same if you step down? Wow LOL. Best way to do this, ask to be a manager anywhere (really easy since no one wants to be manager, they will just hand it out in silver platter), wait a year and step down. Keep your rate. Profit!!!

Yeah, but if you manage to be a PIC for a year you deserve the $2/hr raise. I agree that pretty much any staff RPh could ask to be a PIC and be promoted. It is not an in demand position.

Is it seriously only $2?

^ I don't know. CVS can easily not give you your annual raise next year. That would make up for the difference.

In my case it was 2 dollar and change. Plus increased bonus potential and annual stock options (as opposed to every other year for staph RPh, I think). It really is not a bad gig at all in the right situation. I was too green as an RPh and the store I was at was too big of a challenge for me.

They could try, although my rating is given by my PIC, not the pharm sup, so I can't imagine this will be the case. I will say that being completely willing to walk away at a moment's notice is incredibly freeing. I wouldn't accept a no raise situation. I really don't think I have anything to worry about.

For Techs it's July 1
For Interns it's September

That interesting... I was only asking because I got a ~10% raise this paycheck. It will probably be erased when I move to intern pay next month (I'm doubting that they will apply/carry over previous raises to new pay codes).

I'm surprised/happy that my pay was raised so much but at the same time disappointed that it is essentially meaningless.

You should speak to your supervisor. Your rate should carry over. It did for my Interns, your PIC and RX Supe will have to make sure it happens

So lets say, for example, P1 starting rate is $12. I am currently a tech who is making $8 an hour and get a raise to $9 an hour. When I become an intern I should start at a rate over $12 due to my previous $1 raise? Just want to make sure I'm clear... I appreciate your advice and I understand that it may be up the the individual sup.

I just feel like this isn't going to happen, they had me accept an intern position without even telling me the pay rate. I still don't even know what my pay will be.

No your raise will not carry over. In your example you will not be making $13.

If you were a tech making 11.50 and got a $1 raise to 12.50 and P1 starting rate was $12 you would be left at 12.50 and not dropped down to $12.

That's what I thought and probably what Old Timer meant

Also if the pay rates are something like:

P1 $12
P2 $13
P3 $14
P4 $15

And you are a tech making $14 and become a P1 you will make $14 for P1 P2 and P3 and will not get a raise until you go to $15 as a P4

Does this apply to WAG, WMT and RAD too? If you step down, you get to keep your rate?
