CVS sold my personal information?

I received a mysterious package today at home, addressed specifically to me, without a company name on the box. Upon opening the box, I found a large bundle of Singlecare saving cards, a card stand and a letter saying they want me to hand these out to my CVS customers.

I did previously work at CVS but quit several years ago. I just graduated pharmacy school too so I don't know if it has anything to do with that.

Has this ever happened to any of you? Did CVS sell my personal information to this company or was it somebody else? And if it is CVS, how can I stop them from selling my personal info, being that I am no longer their employee?

No. Whoever sent you those probably combed a public board of pharmacy site which lists licensee addresses, or something of the sort. These people can be devious and your info is out there. Been seeing a lot more of these Singlecare cards lately. Whoever sent them to you earns $1-$2 commission on every claim processed with their group number. The person who sent them to you probably blasted them out to tons of pharmacists/techs trying to get as many hooks in the pond as possible.

As far as CVS is involved all it does it cut into their cash price margin and hurt profits. The person who sent you those cards is probably making thousands of dollars a month due to naive recipients of these cards using them and blindly 'working' for this person, earning them passive income.

I really hate discount cards and the scummy pyramid scheme surrounding them. The minute a couple discount card 'reps' try to drop a stack off on my pharmacy counter I make it clear I understand how they work and they need to leave. I'll gladly throw those cards away for you if you choose to leave them though.

No, with the exception of companies doing direct HR or corporate matters for a company, it is doubtful that CVS or any major company would sell or give personnel information from the payroll files to private companies, it's just too big a liability in labor law. It's probably from the State Board files which really ought to have a lockdown law attached to them. It really is not a public interest matter to know addresses and contact information for all licensees in general.

Thanks for your insightful responses! I guess its good to know its probably not CVS, but also disturbing people are trying to profit off of our personal info - ugh. This is a loophole that should really be eliminated

Bro...CVS makes billions a year. They're not selling your info to some scammy company just so they can make a few dollars off you.
