Hey guys, I have been hired by CVS as a pharm tech/intern and am now just finishing up with the paperwork to get licensed. I haven't actually had a shift yet, since i can't be in the pharmacy without the license, however I have visited the store and met some of the staff. They let me know that the pay would be $11 once I'm certified ($10 uncertified).

The thing is, I just received a call from Hy-Vee, and they're also offering me a job as an intern. I haven't had the interview yet, but am fairly confident... plus my friend's sister is a pharmacist at the same store. Not sure what the pay is going to be, (any ideas?) but I'd have to say it's in a better part of town than CVS. What's the best way to go about this situation... eg let CVS/Hy-Vee know about what's going on, keep them in the dark until I figure out what happens with Hy-Vee, work a little at both to see which I prefer more, etc.

Also, does registering with the Board of Pharmacy as a pharm tech mean I'm going to be certified, or does certification entail a test that I need to take later on? Thanks.

If you have an intern's license, there is no need to become certified as a tech.

i havent started my first year at pharmacy school yet, so im not technically considered an intern... i have to get my tech license first, then im going to get my intern license next year i believe. so once i get my tech license, i will be certified tho? theres no separate test or anything, just an application?

ha thanks, yeah i kinda got that impression, especially from my CVS store... its located on independence ave in kc... yikes.

and yeah, ValeUC is such a badass... only he can pass judgement on appropriate screen names. i hope you get denied from pharmacy school haha

Apparently you can't read. My signature line already states I've been accepted. Sorry to disappoint you, now go put an axle back popcorn exhaust on your Honda Civic and listen to some techno.

i dont know what an axle back popcorn exhaust is... but i assume its something really asian, so kudos on the creativity. i looked at several of your past posts, and you seem to offer the forums nothing but negativity and hostility. do us all a favor and keep your unhelpful comments to yourself. knowing full well you wont, im just going to interpret all of your future posts as you saying "im ignorant, and i wish people would quit pissing on my face"... starting now

OP-I'd be up front with CVS about what's going on, but bear in mind that anything at Hy-Vee is only potential at this moment. Don't bank on something that you have no guarantee on. The CVS situation may suck, but it's still a job. Maybe you could even split hours at the two places if they'd be so flexible.
