I just got this message from the ABA (after passing oral boards) encouraging me to use the D.ABA credential:

I have never seen anyone use this. At first blush it seems dumb, but I suppose the surgeons all use FACS... Does anyone on here use this credential? Have you seen someone else using it? Should we all start using it to win the AORN alphabet soup arms race?

I have been board certified for a very long time by the ABA. I have recertified twice as well. I doubt that I'll be adding D.ABA to my business card.

Here is how most "lay" people will understand it:

Switch Blade, MD
Board Certified (some add the year)

I think you can you change it to:

Switch Blade, MD
ABA Board Certified (2021)

I don't see how the D.ABA helps explain anything.

Huh
I think DABA looks so stupid as an acronym.

On my coat I went with:

Salty Dog, MD Yabba D.ABA Doo

(That’s a Flintstones reference for all you Millennials and Zoomers out there - Google it)

Of course, I watched that cartoon often as a kid. Now, I think of Fred every time the clock strikes 3:00 P.M. and all the "providers" head for the door just like Fred did at the end of his day working the rock yard.

Here is my shop at 3:00 PM

Next time I need to get a couple of my partners’ attention from down the hall, I’m gonna yell “Yo D.ABA D.ABA!”

(That’s a Yo Gabba Gabba! reference for all you Boomers and X’ers out there - Google it)

Flintstones are canceled for not being progressive enough, boomer

In further classic cartoon trivia, a free “like” to the first person who can name Speedy Gonzalez’s cousin (without googling).

You realize most millennials are pushing 40 years old now right? We know what the flintstones was lol.

I have seen DABA many years ago. Didn't catch on.

Maybe now that the ASA is pushing the FASA, it will.

Won't adding more letters only add a perception of legitimacy to all of the letters nurses put on their badges?

I figure I missed a dose if I piss myself.

I’m scared to ask what happens if you miss 2.

“he instead takes his cialis, only to realize his wife is not home. He finds himself alone at home, yet he doesn’t let this opportunity go to waste....”

man, that reads like an excerpt from a romance novel.

More like a horror flick

After I googled the answer, I said no way could this pass today.
That's what I thought too. Till I googled. Granted Washington Times is not the most accurate.

I’m a DNBPAS, no longer DABA, but I’m sure as hell not putting either one after my name.
