I am considering applying for a dual degree (DO/PhD) and wanted to know what you thought regarding the potential of this seven to eight year program. Is this program something you would consider for yourself or a friend?

Also, although I have done some research, I wanted to know what the average DO/PhD salary is. Does anyone have an idea? According to my research they get paid less then a regular DO -😱 Three more years of school and less money, how is that possible (if it is true)?

Thanks in advance

Most academic medical positions (ie research>clinical practice) pay less then private practice. That also goes for the attending physicians who work in clinical practice in academic settings....they simply pay less then you could make in private practice.
