Hey guys,

I have already applied through AACOMAS and took August 5th MCAT, predicting awesomely horrible score. Point is my application will be verified in 2 weeks (at most). And, i have already applied to all D.O. schools.

September 8th MCAT is not likely to do any good (based on my current practice scores). Plan is to void based on judgment on that day.

Does anyone know specific list of schools that accept January MCAT? Their PDF file is not working. Feel free to share a link or list.

Thanks.

So you want to take the mcat in jan and continue to apply this cycle? You do know that most schools are already finishing off their interviewing season by that time and probably have accepted a good number of people? I think you should be aiming to apply next year if you're going to take the mcat that late.

You applied to all the DO schools?

Also taking the January MCAT is going to put you way on the back burner..

Yeah I hate to reiterate what people have already said, but you would be bettered served by taking the proper amount of time needed to raise your scores. IF you send an updated app from AACOMAS in January you will still wait till close to February for schools to get your fresh app into committee. And, most likely you will be competing for a waitlist spot (just from personal experience interviewing in late Feb of last cycle). Anyways, moral of the story is I think you should see if anything pans out this cycle, and if it doesn't then get to studying!

Good luck!

Thanks everyone. I am waiting for my scores to come back on 9/7/11; if <21, will have to retake anyways. But, registered for 09/08/11 also--> don't think 1 month of study will help that much.....and, don't wanna think of foreign med schools YET...........that's why high hopes with Jan MCAT....

Will be so confused when my scores come back...to take the test or not on 09/08/11 will be next question 🙁 I will have only few hours to decide if to take it on 09/08/11 once I get the score on 9/7/11 after 5 PM.

Thanks all.

OP, is there a reason you HAVE to get in this cycle?

Pretty much speaking... the ideal would be to take the Mcat when you feel like you'll score highest. If that means applying next year then so be it...

Btw, highly recommend the 90 day method that you can read all about in the Mcat Subforum.

Yeah guys...I have been planning for med school since like 4 years. But due to family responsibilities, something major comes up and unintentionally MCAT kept getting delayed.

So, by impulse, I just took it on Aug 5th. Score will come back on 09/07.

If score is <21, I will have to retake in Jan'12 (hoping for a chance on waitlist). If Aug 5th score turn out to be >21-30, I will void Sep. 8th exam.

When to consider foreign med schools?

If you actually study properly then you'll get a good score and as such there is no need to consider foreign medical schools. However even with a good score your chances of getting in on Jan will be so low that you'll be throwing away thousands of dollars in application money.
Anyways, do the 90 day method that's mentioned in the Mcat forum and you should at least get above average on the mcat...
