Hello,

What have been some of your experiences with September MCAT? I am taking mine for the first time
on September 6th. I live and work (hospital) in Philadelphia and PCOM is my top choice school (applying only D.O.). I emailed them about the September MCAT and received a reply along the lines of "we are on rolling admissions".

So, is the September MCAT "way too late"?

Everything else for my application will be ready well before then.

I don't think you will be "way too late." I think an October app is later than most, but you still have a reasonable chance. I applied in February so I really can't consider any one else as late haha

It's a longer cycle for DO schools, so a Sept MCAT is NOT too late.

I would say it becomes late if you score 23 or under. For 24+, you are still "on time."

Not too late, I did MCAT around the same time last year and had an acceptance by the end of January.

I think it all depends on your overall application, GPA & EC.
How is your GPA and EC?

Not too late, I got in last year and I took MCAT on September 12th. Hopefully you will too. Good luck.

I liked your signature....gul muk gayee 🙂

What was your gpa and mcat score?

Assuming your primary is submitted and verified already, when is the last MCAT one can take for this cycle (DO), with a decent shot, for an average applicant (cGPA 3.4), strong LORs, and Excellent ECs...? (FYI: I dont care where I get in)

@radian313 ... I think you will still be in the game if you take the MCAT in October and have a 26+... You might not care where you got in right now, but once you go to some interviews and see some of these schools, you will care... Not every DO school is like NSU/MSU/TCOM etc.., and some of these schools can be [ ]...

Dec/Jan is pushing it. My school starts to fill up by Feb/Mar, and so we start being much more selective by then. We have about a six week turnaround time between receipt of secondary and II, so by March, the competition starts getting steeper.

I agree. I do care when I have a choice and will obviously pick the best one but if it came to it, I'll bank on just getting into that one that will accept me. But what I meant was if i had only a single school accept me i will not whine about it. I think I want to do a October MCAt.....4 months is a great amount of time to pull a 26. Thanks for your input.

Thank you GORO as always. I was just curious but I don't think I'll be taking a Dec/Jan mcat, that's what you meant I assume. Heaven forbid if it came to it the last MCAT I will do is November.

DON'T DO FEBRUARY! From personal experience, it was exceedingly stressful to apply so late.
