I've heard conflicting facts about whether or not it's mandatory to release your USMLE score as a DO student for the 2008 application cycle. I know for a fact that if you took both Step 1 and 2, before submitting your application, you cannot choose which one of the two you would like residencies to see. However, what if you choose not submit your USMLE scores all together? I was told that you only have to submit it if the residency specifically asks for it, and that you can choose which programs receive your COMLEX scores and which ones receive your USMLE scores.

Tip: (Osteopathic applicants only)
Before you certify your ERAS application, consider whether you will apply to ACGME &/or AOA accredited programs. If you apply to ACGME programs & have taken the USMLE you MUST report that on your CAF. If you only apply to AOA, you do not have to report the USMLE on your CAF

Since the scores go on your CAF & there is only ONE CAF, I do not know why students are being told that they can choose which programs get which score. Either everyone (including AOA programs) will get your USMLE or no one will (but again withholding USMLE scores from ACGME is NOT an option)

If you are a DO student applying only to ACGME then I suppose you could withhold your COMLEX although it doesn't make sense to me to do that.
You want to show them that you passed the exam that is required of you to get a degree. But if you are applying to both DO & MD then COMLEX will be visible to both.
