In Michigan there doesn't seem to be a difference at all between the opportunities for a D.O. vs an M.D. is this true? Because I've been accepted to arguably the best D.O. school in the country msucom, but also to a good M.D. program UIC.

I know that it is possible for a D.O. to get an M.D. residency but is this much more difficult than if an M.D. candidate tried to get the same one? Meaning does the D.O. candidate would have to be an exceptional standout among their class?

Also what specialties are particularly difficult for D.O.'s to match relative to M.D.'s in Michigan? Because I know I would definitely eventually want to specialize: Cardiology, GI, Oncology (internal medicine specialties), possibly Radiology or possibly go into surgery.

Lastly, is it difficult as a D.O. msucom student to be able to match at a prominent health system like the University of Michigan Ann Arbor?
