Let me first say that I mean no offense D.O. programs or anyone pursuing a D.O. degree but I'm wondering about the difference in quality of education. We have one D.O. program in Ohio (OU) and I figured I might as well apply to it just in case I don't get in else where. I don't know why but I seem to put D.O. schools on almost the same playing field as Caribbean schools...with low avg. GPA's & MCATS. Any insight on this?...and let me reiterate, no offense to D.O. peeps out there 🙂

:eyebrow: Is the search function down again?

Too late.

Do a search.

DO = MD. If you go to PCOM,CCOM,KCOM,KCUMB,DMU and the other old DO schools you'll get a medical school education the same as all MD schools.

lmao, another "Ross Medical School" thread.

This will be the comedy of tonight...

why are people so uptight about this DO issue? Either people debating this have some deep-seated self-esteem issues, or they simply don't understand the basics about medical education. Just work hard, and you'll be a success (MD or DO)

I believe the prior 10,000 answers should be good enough. I mean we can't incessantly keep asking whether the Earth is really flat, at some point one has to accept the general consensus and move on to new questions.

Pre-meds do not live in real life, they live in the crazy, pre-occupied world of pre-meds. I don't think that's really a BAD thing but it's alarming that there are people willing to shoot themselves in the foot over DO school.

Like I said, I didn't mean any offense and perhaps my question was poorly worded--also I'm new on here so I wouldn't have read any old posts on the topic yet. I already have researched the fundamental differences which are mainly in philosophy and I know that DO & MDs alike have equal rights & responsiblities. Because this is all true, I guess my question is why there is such a negative stigma surrounding DO schools?

Not even close... Carribean schools sometimes do not even require an MCAT. OUCOM is a pretty good school I hear, you'd do well to apply there. Check out the Pre-DO forum and read some of the other posts about DO/MD. As always, remember that SDN is full of pre-meds... and therefore full of mis-information, mixed in with some great advice. Use judgment. 🙂

Let me first say that I mean NO offense to susgob711 or anyone that likes this person, but I'm wondering if he's cool enough to be my friend. I mean, i don't really have many friends so I'll consider him... just in case no one else wants to be my friends. I don't know why, but i seem to consider being friends with susgob711 an insult to my social status. Kind of like being on the same playing field as being friends with a convicted pedofile... one with a fetish for twin boys. Any insight on this?... and let me reiterate, NO offense to susgob711 or any of his current friends out there.

kind of reminds me a poster on my fishing forum who always starts with, "not to be a dick, but...." then proceeds to be a dick.

hahaha. i love how SDN gets on his back for asking a simple question. just answer his question if you have the answer and get out.

as for me, i dont have the answer.

i just came in here to have a laugh.

Oh, and let's play some hangman. Who really knows the difference about MDs and DOs?

It's been known that DO schools add in witchcraft n magic into their curriculum in a very subtle manner. Stay away from them brah. :scared:

This is a bad thing?

LIGHTNING BOLT!

This topic is getting old.

DO over carribean schools. Period.

This instantly became my favorite DO vs MD thread....

Where is this guy I've been waiting the whole of 5 mins. Where the hell are you siggy?

I like your striking analogy Josh and hope that we may later tomorrow give our friend Siggy his slap on the wrist. This was my Friday night.

Can I get an E?

Nope...

I'm still here. I've got a final on Tuesday that I'm behind studying for. Throw up some more letters.

No "I" or "H" I'll give these two as freebies because I just realized I forgot a "t" in the second word.

Haha, I assumed our hang man game was far enough away from the DO vs MD war that I could consider it a hijacking (although it's substantial more entertaining). Excuse me if I was wrong.

forget that idea...
im stuck. this is the hardest ive come across.
