Hey everyone, I was just curious if any of you pre-dents would be interested in a blog that focuses on adjustment to first year dental school. I'd focus on the challenge of increased courseload, as well as its effect on me psychologically, socially, mentally, etc.

The first few posts would probably just be general thoughts, looking back on the application process. Interview advice, DAT studying, and undergrad as a whole would be the first focus.
I would probably also have a post on deciding on a school, as well as deciding on which interviews to accept/decline, etc.

Anyway, I'm just looking for a nice hobby to have. I know there are some good dental blogs around already, but I was just going to see if anyone would be interested in some additional input. I'm a pretty positive person. You guys won't catch me posting intimidating pictures or trying to make the coursework seem any worse than it really is. That said, if it sucks, I'm going to report that it sucks.

Also, any suggestions of things that you guys would like to hear about, feel free to let me know.

Best of luck to all of you applying, and I look forward to your responses/input.

No ones trying to intimidate anyone or overexagerrate anything. D1 really does suck. You'll see.

Or course we'd like that. I've seen at least one and it's made me excited for dental school more than anything. Please do it!

I think it's a great idea, even if only for self reflection. I was planning to do a picture history of my time during dental school.

Yes! I'd totally follow you! I'll start in the fall, but I already started a dental blog. ha.

You'll totally have the time for this.

The ones I've come across have usually trickled down in content and frequency to a halt. Probably for good reason. If you could keep it up and add insight about your particular school and not just general applying and such, I'm sure some would find it useful.

Haha yeah....pretty much every D1 blog dies out. Lesson learned: You won't have time!

As someone who just finished DS1.... It wasn't not as bad as what I was told initially.

First semester was super light, 2nd was alot "hotter" but overall, I am loving/loved every moment of it.

The thing about dental school is (and this is JUST MY VIEW) is that its relatively easy to pass ~ almost too easy to pass. However, trying to knock As to A-s only, thats when it becomes challenging ~ very challenging.

I compare passing dental school (good-ole-C's) to being an average 3.0-3.3 undergrad student.

I think its a terrific idea...n U should do it

I'm gonna be a first year student too and already made a blog already for the same exact reason...it would be a place to chronicle my exclusives, challenges I faced while in dental school

ahh I'm doing this too. Though my blog at the moment has various types of posts, I want to concentrate it to dental-related stuff eventually. Once you make yours, I'll follow you! It'll be nice to have views from different dental schools etc. I'm also looking for suggestions, ideas, and willing to help others out give advice.

Just for some brief background, I will be entering the class of 2016. I come from an entire family of dentists so I have a lot of experience and or people to ask advice from. I also am working in a dental office (as a front desk, use to be a DA (paid internships)). My dad's an OMFS, mom's a general, and sister just graduated and is working as a general too!

Wow...that's awesome, a whole family of dentists! Pm me ur blog so I can wanna follow you!
