Interviews are over... now we gotta send a final transcript and wait for results.

Did you hear when the lady said that we might not even hear to the first week of September!! If, by any chance I were to hear on the first week of September that I got in, I probably won't end up going unfortunately. It will be pretty difficult to arrange everything because of some personal matters.

But oh well...
Best of luck to those who do manage to get in.

Does anyone have any information on how they make decisions after the interview?
Is there a certain weight that goes to marks vs. the interview?
I'm starting to get more anxious as the weeks go by...

Has anyone heard back yet?

Has anyone heard back yet?

I've been wondering the same thing ... other programs keep getting their acceptances (I know some dentistry people found out today) and im getting anxious for us to find out about ours 🙁

Has anyone heard back yet?

according to past years, anytime between the 12th and 18th was when the first people heard.
I get SO anxious when I check the mail now.

Waiting sucks...I get sick to my stomach every time I go check the mail...lol...but yes! This should be the week the first people hear back! good luck everyone!

I check the mail box like 10 times a day.
It's really lame that we have to wait this long.

Hi, is anyone else also waiting to hear back from UoT as well? I'm from Halifax but I applied to both Dal and UoT.

Good luck to everyone 🙂

Well, I hope they inform us no later than the end of July. I work 2 jobs and so I really have limited time to make arrangements IF I get in. (lol I put if in bold to stress that I have a gut feeling that I am not going to get in.) To all those people checking the mail everyday, I hope you find something soon!

I just realized something... totally irrelevant though... this thread has the most replies out of the past dalhousie pharmacy forums!!! I guess it was a good idea to start it. Thanks for all those replies everyone! 🙂 It's hear from people in a similar situation as myself.

I'm so anxious now! Someone should call or email them and see if they're planning on sending out the letters soon. I really hope I'm not gonna be one of those people who has to wait until September to find out..

Hey everyone. People have found out now. So no need in calling Dal, because the first set of letters have been sent out. The last batch will be sent out around July 23rd. Good luck to you all!

The mail man must've come early today for those folks. Hopefully everyone here gets a letter today!

Oh wow, I didn't realize letters have already been sent. Ahhhh

Ahh yikes! When did people here/what was their letter dated??? Ugh this is the worst part of the wait...

People heard at the end of last week. I believe they send out one batch per week, and they usually send them out on Fridays. Honestly, I do not like the way Dalhousie does all of this because they are the last school in Canada to send out their acceptance/rejection letters for Pharmacy. Also, when the lady at the interview said you can get a letter up until September, that is only if someone rejects the school and they have to choose someone else. All letters will be received by applicants by the first of August. So honestly, do not stress because your letter will come in the mail, whether it be tomorrow, or in 4 weeks. You should all be proud that you have had the chance to have an interview, as hundreds of people who have applied did not get that opportunity! Remain optimistic 🙂

I just want to clarify ... are you people getting this information directly from the source i.e., the pharm admissions people ... or is this just sort of what you "heard" lol it's just frustrating to read and hear so many different things from different people and I just would like to know where you heard your info! 🙂 but thanks for keeping us posted either way and good luck to everyone!

I wonder in what order they send them... best applicants to least best??? or just randomly. I'm really curious.

from what i've heard from applicants in past years and current students, is that the immediate "for sure" yes's and no's go out first, then as they receive rejections they send out to the "waitlist".

Hi all -
After reading this and thinking that letters were sent out, I emailed Margaret to find out about the waiting list. This was her response -

"Hi Xxxxxxxx,
No letters have been sent out at this time. They will be going out at the
end of the month. Can you please tell me where you heard this rumour as
there seem to be many of them around.

Margaret Hoyle
Admissions & Student Affairs Officer
College of Pharmacy, Dalhousie University"

So, there it is officially and we can all continue to wait anxiously.

I called the office first thing today and they said the exact same thing. That no letters have been sent yet. So don't worry about not getting your letter.

Amazing how fast rumors spread. Unfortunately, I actually believed it. Thanks for the official reply.

Got my rejection letter yesterday, it was dated June 23rd. Goodluck guys!

I also got my rejection letter yesterday, though it was dated June 24th. Ah well, at least I know. Hopefully you guys have better luck!

Hey! I am anxiously waiting for a letter as well. I am just wondering (if you don't mind me asking) for those of you who have already received your rejection letters, what were your GPA's this year? Or how were your marks? And do they send out rejection letters first?

Got my acceptance letter today! So siked! My letter was dated June 23 as well.

Got my Accpetance letter as well!
So excited! For those of you who got accepted, see you next year!!!

Congrats to everyone! I will be seeing you there! Got my acceptance today as well.
Best of luck to those who have yet to hear.

Hey everyone! Just wondering for those who have received letters, what are the dates on them ?
And are you in or out of province! .. CONGRATS!

I got a rejection letter today and it was dated June 23rd. I was wondering what people's GPAs have been since mine was pretty high and it said due to keen academic competition I didn't get it.

orry to hear!.. what was yours?

That is nuts. I wonder if they say the same thing on every rejection letter. 4.0 is very high. How do you think your interview went? I wonder what the GPA's of those getting accepted are..

I think that the rejection letter is the same for everyone. I got one last time i applied a few years ago and it said something like that but when i contacted them in the fall to ask about what to improve on they checked my file and told me whether it was the interview or grades or both.

But from what I can tell they have a generic letter for acceptance and rejection.
Good luck to everyone waiting to hear and I look forward to meeting those of you who will be in classes with me this fall.

It likely wasn't your academics at all ... I had a 4.2 this year which isn't far from 4.0 and I was accepted. .... I feel as though it may have been more on the interview side, because i've been told that you could walk into the interview with a 4.3 (perfect straight A+'s) and be rejected if you do not score high enough on the interview, given that Pharm requires you to deal with people, the interview is probably worth a lot of the final decision.

If you are wondering the reason, contact Margaret and set up a meeting with her 🙂 I didn't get in last year either, and she told me what I needed to do to improve etc and it really helped 🙂

mg44 is likely right, that it wasn't your academics, as my GPA wasn't that high (3.7), but I felt great about the interview.

Don't give up - those grades are awesome. I'm sure a few tips on how to touch up the interview and you'll be all set for next year.

Yeah, it definitely wasn't your grades. I called Margaret today, she told me that my interview score was a little higher than average but it was my grades that was a little bit lower - one class that completely screwed me over (and my gpa was NOT a 4.0). Anyway, she gave me some pretty good feedback so just call her and she'll let you know what you can work on for the interview portion.

The interview is a huge factor in being accepted because it allows the school to know who we are and how we would act in particular situations. Someone can be extremely smart but not have great public speaking skills, not have volunteered, and not have great people skills. One's grades can only get you so far (to at least the interview) and does not define a person. My GPA was not very high at all (embarrassingly low to be honest), but my interview is what pulled me through!

i have a 2.9 converted gpa and still got in
i honestly dont think marks are important once you get the interview

YAY!!! I got accepted. It was dated June 23 but I just got the letter today since I was on vacation. I was pretty surprised since I thought I did poorly on my interview. Hope to see you all in the fall.

Sorry to hear those who got rejected, but I hope you get in next year or succeed in whatever path you want to follow.

My parents have been trying to help me improve my application and such for next year, and they suggested I take the PCATs this summer. I know Dal doesn't require them, but does this sound like a good idea? Even if they got my results, where it isn't required, would they even take it into consideration? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Honestly, they probably would not even look at PCAT scores at Dal. On another note, I have heard it's a good idea to throw in a letter of reference or 2...I guess I will be doing that next year!

Sooo, did anybody decline their offer of admission? Or know anybody who declined?! This waitlist business is killing me!

With the LORs, I imagine you'd just throw them in with your application? I was planning on doing something like that this application cycle (though I'm not holding my breath to be accepted this year) and if it seems to be an acceptable thing to do, I'm most definitely doing it.
