Damage Assesment?

I wouldn't say you're "fully screwed" -- at least not irreparably -- but you're pretty screwed. Chances are good you'll be looking at DO, in which case you should retake all of those classes as it will get those Cs replaced. Also, since Gen Bio and Gen Chem are the two most critical subjects on the MCAT and English is probably 3rd (considering its importance to VR, whereas Physics and OChem are both really kind of lesser topics on their respective sections per recent trends), weak performance there is likely to haunt you long-term.

So basically...yes, retake them. And don't let any of this happen again. Ever.

Yeah you screwed up. Now take this as an opportunity to learn why you screwed up so you can prevent it in the future. Re-take them and get the best grade you can, then make sure you're more careful. Otherwise you could be taking a 5th year or post bacc to make up the GPA. Also you want to master this stuff for the MCAT. Get it done.

You can't retake them since you didn't get a D or below. Make sure to ace everything else you can and get your GPA up to a 3.2 + and rock the MCAT. Take some time off and apply later. If you want to do DO then go for it, but if you only want to do it because you think MD is out of reach then don't.

How do you figure he can't retake them? People with Cs retake Orgo all the time. Now maybe his undergrad institution won't give him grade replacement but that is not relevant. AMCAS will factor in the new grades along with the old so if he gets As in all those classes it will factor in as Bs overall. Plus it shows med schools he understand the stuff and is mature enough to go back a fix mistakes.
DO school replace with the most recent grade. So if I was the OP I would retake them.

I don't know if I'd retake the C or C+, but you'll have to retake the C-'s to get credit for the courses where completing med school pre-reqs is concerned. Whether or not you redo the C and C+ will depend on what your overall GPA looks like. If you need any boost you can get, retake. If the rest of your grades are solid come application time, don't bother.

I got grades similar to yours in g bio and g chem. I didn't retake because my advisor told me not to. I can't speak as to whether that was the right decision or not. I can't even say as to whether or not it is possible to get into a MD program with those scores (hopefully) lol but I'll pass on his advice which was to take a lot of upper division courses in those areas instead of retaking if you are interested in MD. It will get your gpa up and prove you can handle difficult material. Also don't give up on MD yet. With a strong uptrend you might not be at harvard but all it takes is one school to give you a chance.
