Dangers of being a reapplicant?

Im considering only applying to california schools this cycle. Thus, this lowers my chances of matriculating into any medical school greatly. That being said, if I don't get in this cycle, how bad is it to be a reapplicant for next cycle?

only schools you have previously applied to know that you're a reapplicant.
and if you are a competitive candidate, there is no "danger."
