Hey guys I need some help in the orgo section of the 2010 destroyer. Problems #69, 141, and 223. I understand these are diels alder reactions and that they occur in one step, but I do not understand which carbons to use from the reactants in order to form the products

This reaction doesn't require a strong understanding of to solve related problems for the DAT. You just need to get comfortable with predicting the products or reactants (retro). I cannot explain succinctly how to make these predictions without active diagrams, so I highly highly recommend you watch/skim through this video series:

#69: You always have to look at the diene and the dieneophile. Those two will determine which carbons to use. Depending on how you attack, you'll get a different answer, but you have to rotate the image in your head to get to it. It's hard to explain because the carbons that you use should be obvious.

I'm having a hard time understanding what you mean by which carbons to "use". Take out your organic chemistry book and look at the mechanism (key to success) and learn from that.
