I got my DAT tomorrow at 8AM. I can't sleep, I need at least a 17 AA, TS and PAT. I will let you guys know how I do. Oh I guess I should post my GPA

Undergrad:
Cumulative 3.1
Science 3.3

Medschool:
Pass

DAT score
PAT-22 (93.4)
Bio -25 (99.3)
GC - 26 (98.4)
OC - 28 (99.6)
RC - 29 (99.9)
QR - 17 (83.4)
TS - 25 (99.7)
AA - 25 (99.9)

PAT: Verbatim CDP:
I saw a repeat from Topscore and Achiever
Bio:
Overall pretty easy I only got like 4 physiology problems considering the many stuff physiology consists. I got to one stupid biomes question I had no idea where it was located. One plant stuff on something about plant roots probably got that wrong. I use Destroyer and PRB for the biology but they don't have much on biomes and plants on this.
GC:
Concepts: 20 Calculations: 10 easy
Destroyer & Kaplan are the best, the questions were so much easier on the real DAT.
Use this for my review http://www.coursesaver.com/showthread.php?t=39
OC:
30 problems all easy. Straightforward, it's usually the first thing that pops into your head, know your testing reagents like tollens and iodo.
RC:
Practice tests should be enough to practice for RC. Practice RC as if it was the real thing. Actual RC difficulty varies with tests. I always do well on Verbal/RC so I didn't spend much time studying for this
Advice: Spend time wisely don't split it into 20/20/20, even if first and second essay are easy, don't spend too much time as your third essay might be twice as long and twice as hard as mine was.
QR:
I did terrible as I didn't finish. It's shouldn't be too bad but I got a little burn out and I was never good at math, the calculations were a little more exact than GC so I couldn't estimate. UNDERSTAND every single problem in the Kaplan, Destroyer, Topscore, and Achiever and you're set. Everything I saw was covered in a related problem, if your problem is speed practice.

While taking practice tests or looking through Destroyer, it's good to know that these companies pay people to take and regurgitate questions. So yes, there will be some repeats, but don't just count on the repeat STUDY!!!

All the practice tests I know to exist:
3 Achiever, 3 Topscore, 1 ADA – Main website, Kaplan: 5 full length practice test, 1 diagnostic
If you need more practice test you can try the OAT tests

just relax, that is the best thing you can do for yourself right now. get rest and wake up early to have breakfast and go #2. stay confident. good luck!

Why are you taking the DAT if you're a med student?

A few things here....
One: You're a medical student and the DAT is for people going into dentistry.
Two: A 17 AA, TS, and PAT is way below average.
Three: You better do better than a 17 or it seems if you (a med student) may have less general knowlegde about sciences than many undergrad students.
Four: how did you even come up with a 17 for the score you "need" to get?

He's transferring from NYU med to NYU dental. NYU dental prob just requires him to get a minimum to complete the transfer. I'm guessing he's pretty damn smart to get into NYU med in the first place... sooo i think he'll be fine. Don't be so harsh when u don't know anything about him. 🙄

I know he/she must be smart and that is why I said that he/she must do better than a 17. If he/she cant get a 17 with undergrad, studying for MCAT, and 1 year of medical school.... well that raises some eyebrows.
Dont be so harsh......... dang I must be the meanest guy on this forum..... because it upsets me how a dental school will take a soon-to-be-ex-med student when there are thousands of people who are devoted to getting in dental school.

Thank you for such a well conceived and thoughtout statement. You must be so proud of yourself.
How would you feel if you put your time in studying for the DAT and getting a solid score only to have your spot taken by a dropout med student who can get by with a 17? Didnt think about that did you?

What the hell is going on?! Why am I seeing so many med students transferring to dentistry? Isn't one of the admission requirements passion for dentistry? I don't see how you can be passionate for this field if your first choice was medicine, and then all the sudden you realized you're deeply in love with dentistry...

Yup, people are never allowed to change their minds.............

Yeah, heaven forbid that dentistry ever become a 9-5 job...........

People discover their passion through life. I personally tried out optometry, medicine, psychiatry, before choosing dentistry. I think it shows maturity to go try different things, explore your options, and learn about you. It happens later for some people. I mean when u're 18, how did u know u're for sure u want to do dentistry for the rest of your life? I think it's really brave of him to take the step to switch.. some people might feel like they are "stuck".. especially with med school and all.

hmmm...Yea! That could be true! But I think more people are switching from medicine to dentistry, because they look at dentistry as an easy alternative to medicine, not because they wanna explore different options in life. And personally, I think people should have a plan for their life and they should stick to it. I think one sign of maturity is being able to make a decision and stick with that decision regardless of its difficulties and challenges. You can't and shouldn't constantly switch from one field to another, just because you think the other field might be easier. I'm not saying this is what this particular applicant is doing, but I know for a fact that seeking an easy way out is why many med students switch to dentistry, because I've met so many people with this mindset.

I agree...it's not that I think med-turned-dental students are immature by any means, or that they're not allowed to change they're mind...I just think that they should be held to the same standards as any other person applying to dental school. It is a little upsetting that someone with mediocre test scores can just earn themselves a spot in their second choice professional school while there are thousands of dedicated and passionate pre-dents out there...just my opinion! 🙄

Done and done I guess I can relax now lol overall it took me 3 weeks doing 8 hours a day.

Nevermind, I see you updated your original post! Very nice job, I'll definitely admit you have earned a dental school spot with those scores... 🙂

Wow.... I so glad that this med student somehow found time in the middle of his busy days of med school to find out that dentistry is right for him.
You should have determined what you wanted to do before you applied to a certain professional school.

TBH the real reason I'm switching to dentistry is due to time, medicine I feel would be too time consuming for my goals ahead which is really starting a family. I hope that dental can provide a more stable schedule.

As I mentioned in my previous post, I'm not particularly referring to you. I was making a general statement based on what I've seen and heard. I'm sure there are people who switch for a good reason. You may indeed be one of them.
Good Luck Anyways!

maturity has nothing to do with knowing what you what to do? If I follow your criteria for maturity my sister was fully mature at 3 years old because she was adamant that she wanted to be a doc. And there are immature 50 years olds walking around because they dont have a plan on a career.
You should have determined what you wanted to do before you applied to a certain professional school.

He/she had his/her reasons.. and if the school accepts it, then let it be? I believe maturity is carried through your plans and actions. I have no idea what u're talking about in regards of 3 years and 50 years old.. Yes, people should be determined at what they wanted by the time they apply to the school... why waste the time and effort.. and take some1 else's spot.. ? But people have the freedom to change their minds, see things in different perspective. People place different aspects of life in different orders of importance.. and they change. When he/she was applying med, he or she prob was really determined and can see it being his/her future. But as time goes by, different area of life becomes more prominent and important to him/her. Plans change, people change. Let it be.

Btw bbw great score!! Congratz 🙂!

Lol so you considered no other careers since birth? Interesting... Why do you care if this person changes there mind anyway

You voted for McCain didn't you???!?!?!

my friends dad switched from dentistry to medicine

what's the pre-med students' complaint who got their spot taken by him????

I spent 6 months partially studying and one full month studying during winter break doing nothing but MCAT for 12 hours a day. My score breakdown was 12/13/15, Physical/Bio/Verbal Here's the stuff I used.

-EK: audio osmosis while commuting and exercising it helps once you play it like 200 times.
-PRB: IMO the best MCAT review.
-Gold Standard Video - Watch it while I'm eating.
-1001 EK series: did all the questions really help me to get concepts
-Schaums series for Biology and Orgo
-EK Series
-101 MCAT passages
-Used Barrons book but didn't use Kaplan

-I practiced so many exams.
Like 30 MCAT topic tests and like 50 full length practice test from both AAMC and Kaplan.
