Hi!

I have a question for anyone who is willing to help me out.

If I have taken/ take a year of bio, a year of inorganic chem, a year of organic chem, and a year of physics; with the help of practice exams such as the Destroyer and Kaplan will I be well prepared for the DAT? If not, what other classes do you think I need to take... (more bio, trig, more organic chem....)? How long do I need, after completing those classes, to study for the DAT?

Is taking those classes at a community college a terrible wrong thing to do?

Thanks for your help!!! I really appreciate it!!

if you have taken all of your classes at a CC, and plan to apply to dental school from CC, then that will be very hard. Usually, you will need to have transfered or already hold a BS or BA in order to use your CC classes to get into a dental school.

For example, if you have no other coursework, and are still in CC ready to transfer, then you would need to transfer, then show them ~3 quarters worth of 4-year college work to be able to justify your academic endurance.

as for your other question, it depends on you.

if you have great study habits and have a great direction of where you are going, then id suggest you study yourself.

If you do need direction and some motivation, sign up for kaplan's 1299$ program. It will give you alot more confidence in taking the DAT. I took it ~ 2 years ago and recently just got hired by kaplan as an instructor. The thing about it is, alot of people complain that kaplan's course is not worth it, however I believe it is if you take advantage of kaplan's resources.

Easily, their online and center tests and study material should prepare you well enough. in addition, you can go study at kaplan, kinda forcing yourself to do the time.

Princeton review also does DAT in a few places.

Its up to you though, good luck
