These are my stats.. and I've turned in my aadsas application on June 30. I just don't know what to do now, whether I should put a hold on my application for this year and retake my DAT in November....
OR... should I retake it (in case I don't get in this year, and use that score to apply for the next cycle???)

Thanks guys!

You will get some interviews. However, if you want to increase your chance, a retake might be a good idea

Numbers wise, you're fine regardless of what people say on here. Your DAT puts you in the top 20-25%-ile. Your GPA is fine. I'm a novice at this thing just like the majority on here, but I would apply to your state school (if one is available) and private schools like Tufts, BU, NYU, Temple, etc. Public out-of-state schools might be a stretch. If things do not work out for you this year, it might not be a bad idea to re-take the DAT and shoot for 20's, or do a 1 year MBS. The latter maybe overboard, but just shooting options. But make sure you kill the interviews.

Listen to this guy. The people on here will make you freak out if you dont have a gpa about 3.7 and a DAT about a 21. But in truth the admission's staff definitely looks at more things than this. From what I've seen on predents a dude with a 3.8 and 23 DAT was rejected from UCSF while a dude with a 3.0 and 20DAT was accepted at UCSF, both were in state. We'll probably never know what these other things they look at are but I know for sure that the GPA and DAT are only a small part of the admissions process for the above example to be true.

Thank you MrWilson!! I really appreciate your feedback, and the rest of you too!! Thank you for your time and advice!! I think the best thing I can do right now is stay positive and hope for the best 🙂 I will retake the test in November, and go from there 🙂

I would only retake in nov if you truly think you can improve each section by a point or so. If not, you applied early enough to get some interviews but don't think that submitting scores in nov is going to get you interviews in december or january. At that point you'll be competing for an alternate seat in a february or march interview. Good luck

Do Not Retake!

Your GPA and DAT scores are both competitive. Dont compare yourself to the highly inflated stats on SDN.

This statement is false. The state school that I was affiliated posts their average stats, and the both (gpa and DAT scores) are higher.

I think, you should be fine as long as PS, LOR, and dentistry experience are all good.

I beg to differ. I stand my ground.

19s on his DAT, and a decent GPA.

He'll definitely get some interviews somewhere.

Dr. Reo, I know his stats aren't stellar, but there people that are admitted with stats lower than his. For this reason, its reasonable to say that his average DATs and GPA are substantially competitive.

GPA is slightly below average

DAT scores are good

Just get good grades from here-on-out! Raise science and total GPA to 3.5

I'm pretty sure you'll receive some interviews though. However, if for some reason you don't get into any schools, do a 1-year MBS to raise your GPA.

Good luck! I guess you have to believe in yourself at this point...
