I am studying for the DAT biology. I was wondering what is the best way to get a 20+ on this section? I have not taken anatomy courses . I was wondering if the DAT stresses a lot over anatomy and physiology? I am really stressing out! Can anyone who has taken the DAT recently help me out? What should I do to do well in this section?

It boils down to being a good test taker. Know genetics ques. Just practice taking DAT exams timed. Go through DAT destroyer...that's basically it. Good luck! I didn't take A and P and I scored a 26.

I concur. Know genetics cold. My DAT biology section was loaded with genetics questions, but I think at the end of the day it has to with the luck of the draw and your test taking abilities. How qnzbabi91 got a 26 in biology is beyond me 🙂

Just make sure you understand the big picture. I had a few Evolution type questions, no plants, yes genetics, ATP, translation and transcription, cell function, brain function and hormone type questions.

Some you have to use process of elimination and I had no, "all of the above, 2 of the above," type questions.

Thanks dentalkid. Yeah our test had not a single plant question thankfully. Mostly conceptual and applying information. It's kinda like in organic chemistry in college. You can't just remember the reactions in biology's case the facts an expect to do well. You need to know how to apply them in weird situations.

While I agree with the above advices, and sure better than what I will say, but I personally think doing well in your div bio classes, will help you with more exposure and save some time while you study for DAT. For example, taking embryology, immunology and evolution this spring, helped me not only recall the materials fast but also had deeper understanding and saved me some time to study for bio and helped me focus on other subjects that I was weak on.

I also had not had a&p or any plant courses. Know cliff's ap and Barron's ap. The destroyer wasn't helpful to me whatsoever. Do the questions in the AP books. Also, KBB is good for hormones, eye, and ear. Anatomy is definitely important for the test, but cliffs and Barron's combined cover it in far enough detail to do well.

How did you study for the classification/ taxonomy. It's giving me a headache lol

I just went through Cliff's AP biology as well as, the DAT Destroyer and I did just fine. I ended up with a 21 and I never took A & P. I just tried to focus on understanding the concepts so that no matter what question I got I could try 2 atleast eliminate 2 answers.
Go Luck with your studying you can do it! ;=)
