Hello everyone,

I am planning on taking the DAT sometime in December and I was just wondering, is it changing? I have searched the forums and read bits and pieces of a change concerning the biology and math section, but nothing seems concrete.

Also, if it is not changing, could someone link to a good study schedule for the DAT? How long did you guys study for? Since I have about 3 months, would that be enough time?

Also, did anyone take the DAT without organic 2?

I have heard some things about it changing to less objective questions and more application based questions. No idea if it is true. Shouldn't matter to an extent, if you know the material well you should be able to apply it. As far as studying, find "Ari's Study Guide to DAT Domination" or something similar.. Its a 3 month study schedule.. I had taken Organic 2, don't know if it helped much, if it all. I think Orgo 1 is sufficient if you did well.. you will learn a lot about Orgo during your studying for DAT.

The ADA has been claiming changes for quite a while, yet everything pretty much remains the same. I do feel they are adding different questions, perhaps a little more challenging in the science sections. The QR in my opinion has not changed at all.

If you are taking the DAT in December it is highly unlikely you will notice any changes.

I have worked with students who have taken the DAT without taking Orgo 2 and they never score as high as students who have completed the course work. You might be the exception but I never recommend a student take the DAT before all the classes are completed.

Wishing you the best..

Hey, thank you for the reply!

is a majority of the biology questions definition type questions, or is it more reading comprehension like what they claim the MCAT to be?

Not nearly as complex as the MCAT but you could encounter some questions that involve some reading and understanding of the topic, not all questions are straightforward definitions.

The DAT is a very challenging test with many different versions, so prepare accordingly.
