Hey All,

So I took my DAT yesterday and when I got my score back was a little shocked. You'll see why.

PAT: 24
QR: 17
RC: 26
BIO: 20
G-Chem: 19
O-Chem: 22
TS: 20
AA: 21

I mean, I know my PAT and AA aren't bad, but I'm kind of freaking out about the QR, even though I was getting 20s in all my practice exams.

My ECs are good with over 250 hrs volunteer, sports team for 2 years, 60 hrs shadowing that will be 100< by the time apps happen. I'm a little white boy but I'm quadralingual (some schools care), married, and have worked 20-40 hrs a week all through college.

My GPA isn't the best (cumulative 3.5 science 3.25) but I have a year to correct that up to a 3.4 science so I was wondering how bad a QR 17 can affect me in apps next cycle.

Primarily looking at Texas schools mainly Baylor and San Antonio (have residency), Tuft's, Boston University, Ohio State, and a couple other scattered schools in the south.

I know this post is wayyyyyyy early for next cycle but I was just curious as to y'alls insight.

Thanks!

Your scores are great in some categories, good in others, and your only low score is in QR, which is the least important section. So don't worry about it; apply early and broadly and you'll be fine.

EDIT: RC is the most important individual section on the DAT (less important than TS and AA, but more so than any individual subtest, generally speaking), and your 26 on that section is absolutely fantastic and will capture the attention of many dental schools.

Why less interested in Houston? Just curious.

Thanks for the info about RC, I knew it was important, but not how much schools weighed it in the decision.

Your QR is on the edge of the passing range which is good enough. Your CR more than makes up for it. You should be set! Don't worry about it too much.
