Hey all,

Took the DAT and to be honest isn't as much as a relief as I thought it would be, just means I have to focus on classes again. I studied for about 6 weeks the last month or so while taking classes and working part time. The DAT is a very doable test regardless. Anyway, not too happy with the RC and QR naturally, but considering they were the two I least prepared for I want to say it wasnt suprising. Anyway the scores are as followed.

PAT 20
QR 16
RC 17
BIO 19
GCHEM 23
Ochem 23
TS 21
AA 20

CDP was good prep for the PAT section though I thought the real DAT had a bit more challenging questions in the TFE and keyhole problems. Hole punching had some folds that were different but not out of this world. Angles and patterns were both much easier in my opinion.
I was scoring about 20 as an average in the CDP's but thought i would do better.

RC didn't do any prep execpt for 3 practice test about a week or so before. big mistake. Got interrupted halfway through by a proctor which wasn't great but still no excuses.

QR I used math destroyer but only went through it once or so. Not a great math student to begin with.

Biology i suprisingly prepared alot for but im upset with my score. It was right on with my top score scores which ranged from 18-21. Random as everyone says, i thought the questions were worded weird. idk just weird

GChem praise chad! I literally remembered nothing from gen chem prior to watching his videos. using dat destroyer was a great thing as well and was well worth the money

Ochem was easy i think i did this section in about 6minutes no lie. very basic if you did well in organic and understand the topics you will be fine. obviously got some wrong but not really sure which possibly a few of the word problems.

In all DAT destroyer was a great investment for both chems and i thought it helped for bio a bit too.

Anyway, I'm applying next cycle most likely and at this point im looking towards a retake during the summer to bring up that RC specifically. I have a gpa of about mid to high 3.5 I would say, not entirely sure. Now the question, am I competitive? Let me know your honest opinions and PM me if you feel the need to.

yea as long as u get ur rc up its gg

was the ochem section mostly predict the product problems?
and what kind of word problems were there?

You're finished, congrats!! Take some time off and relax for a bit you deserve it.

Wait isn't ts just the average of bio gchem and ochem, which is 21.7 which would round up to 22?

the total science isnt an average of the three sciences, rather how many questions you got right out of the hundred questions in the sciences.

Yea thankfully its over.. My biggest concern is the RC. Does anyone know really how important it really is?

It's pretty important, but people have gotten in with a 17. You might not be able to get into some schools with that score, but it won't kill you as long as you have a good gpa.

Look at it this way, you meet the cutoffs for a lot of schools, if not all with that score in RC! Relax your fine...and this is coming from a person who got a 15 in RC lol thankfully my state school doesnt have cutoffs but it definitely doesnt look good there, just be ready for an answer, i know i better be :xf:

I have read a lot of breakdowns to see what stuff I should get, and for the most part it seems the cut off is 16. I personally think you should apply but I'm just a lonely pre-dent.

Thanks for the breakdown and congrats

You're lonely or are you lowly? 😉

Its a pretty important section of the DAT. In all of my interviews I was asked about my RC score (I had a 21) and they just said great job on the RC. I asked them the correlation between RC score and Dental school admission, my interviewers said the ability to do well on the RC shows how fast you can learn new material (?) as in how fast you can read something and understand it as well. In dental school there is lots and lots of reading so good readers are almost always a good sign. Just be ready for an explanation. I had a low PAT (17) and no one even cared as well as a random bio score (18), no one said anything about that either. I hope ur gpa is 3.5 + (both sci and non sci) other than that prepare well for the interviews and get everything in EARLY (June 10th was my personal deadline to get everything in)
