Hi everyone!

First of all, I would like to give praise to GOD for I would not be able to do well in the DAT without him.
Secondly, I would like to thank everyone who helped me in SDN. I know that no body knows me but I used to read through different threads and this place is the best to get good information about DAT, dental schools, and application process 🙂

My DAT breakdown:

PAT - 21 (87.9%)
QR - 17 (75.6%)
RC - 19 (52.2%)
Bio - 23 (97.4%)
GC - 22 (91.8%)
OC - 23 (94.4%)
TS- 23 (97.8%)
AA - 21 (93.4%)

I have been preparing for 2 months and half. The materials that I used were KBB,Cliff's notes, DAT destroyer, Math destroyer, Crack DAT (RC and PAT), Chad's videos (for OC,GC, QR), and datqvault.

The most important advice that I can give to you is "DON'T GIVE UP" I can't emphasize how so important is that during taking the test. This exam is about how to control yourself for 4.5 hours. Don't lose your confidence! even if you feel you're going to get a low score ( that's what I felt during the test). Don't let the DAT to kill you !

Bio: I used Kaplan blue book and supplemented it with cliff's notes. I did DAT destroyer for Bio section only once. After that I took datqvault.
datqvault scores for (1-10) Biology tests:
19, 17, 19, 19, 18, 18, 21, 19, 20, 19 >>> VS. real DAT (23)
I think Bio section was random. I had easy questions and hard ones too. I did not have any question related to plants, photosynthesis, mitosis, cell respiration. I had genetics problems and they were easy. I think if you know your material you should be fine. (by the way, I was shocked when I saw my bio score because I expected it to be lower that is why I say to you not to give up and continue to the end of the test).

GC: just like other people in this forum, I watched Chad's videos and took notes. Then, I did DAT destroyer, do not worry if you can't do all the problems. Just learn from your mistakes and do not use DAT destroyer to estimate your score. Real DAT GC was easier!
I did (1-10) datqvault GC tests and my scores were:
22, 19, 18, 24, 20, 19, 21, 21, 20, 20 >>>> VS. real DAT (22)

OC: (I did the same like in GC)
The real DAT was way easier than DAT destroyer. So, do not judge based on DAT destroyer!
my datqvault (1-10) tests for OC were:
24, 20, 21, 22, 18, 19, 19, 19, 17, 19 >>>> VS. real DAT (23)

RC: I used Crack DAT and averaged between 18-20. In the real DAT, I had 2 scientific topics and 1 non-scientific. The problem with the scientific topics is that they are loaded with tons of information. However, I'm satisfied with my grade 🙂

QR: I used Chad's videos, DAT destroyer, and Math destroyer. The questions were similar to Math destroyer. There were many easy calculation problems like (find x) or conversions. My advice to you is to learn how to time yourself while doing QR. Also, I felt that it was the last section so I just wanted to finish and guessed on a few questions.

PAT: I felt keyhole and TFE were harder than the CDP. The rest was similar to CDP.
I averaged between (20-22) in CDP. By the way, counting the lines method for TFE did not work well. I used to find 3 choices have same lines number. So, I used my perceptual ability  . For cube counting, I did not see more than 20-25 cubes. Angle ranking was compared to the CDP. I used to look at the choices to know from where to start.

Well, I think that is it. Thank you again guys! and I wish the best to everyone who will take the test 🙂 Remember, you can do it!

Congratulation!

I have 2 questions:
1. how did you approach the RC passages? Is there a lot of tone, interference, "which of the following is mentioned but the reasoning is wrong" questions?

2. what did you do in the last week for bio? i feel i am forgetting a lot of bio stuff and going through destroyer didn't make me feel much better...any advice?

Good job again!

Hi,

1- I had a lot of "detail" questions. I don't remember that I saw inference or tone questions. I had only 1 "which of the following is mentioned but the reasoning is wrong" question. As I said the first 2 passages were scientific and they were full of information and details. I think you either should have a good memory to remember all the details or write down the keywords on the sheet of paper. What I did is going through the entire passage then attack the questions.

2-For Bio, I reviewed using KBB. 50 pages a day for 5-6 days. Then went through the questions that I marked on datqvault. I recommend you to focus on these topics : Cell respiration (know ATP number produced in each step, NADH, FADH2), Photosynthesis, Mitosis, Meiosis, Taxonomy, Cell structure and components with the function of each one, DNA replication, Protein synthesis. (datqvault is really good at presenting lab techniques questions like PCR). I had 1 lab technique question for Bio. The most important thing is to not let the exam scare you. Even if you see random questions. As I said, I finished the exam and thought I would get 18 but it turned 23 🙂

I wish you the best in taking your exam and feel free to ask me 🙂
