Dat Done June 9!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
i am totally relieved. Take home lesson: Never schedule a big test such like this half a year before your test date.. It is definitely stressful since it is always in the back of your head even when taking it easy in the beginning. I could have just crammed it all and practiced in 2 months instead of dragging it on for 6. I took the dats last year in sept. But didn't do so hot, so i have taken a lot of steps and effort this time to help increase my score. Anyway, here it is:

Sept (2009)
pat: 18 (61.1%)
qr: 17 (65.7%)
rc: 18 (44%)
bio: 20 (86.9%)
gc: 21 (87.4%)
oc: 19 (73.1%)
ts: 20 (86.2%)
aa: 19 (77.2%)

jun (2010)
pat: 23 (96.4%)
qr: 21 (96.4%)
rc: 24 (94%)
bio: 20 (88%)
gc: 20 (79.8%)
oc: 24 (95.7%)
ts: 21 (91.6%)
aa: 22 (97%)

i will post the breakdown on what i did before and what i did differently this time around, but for now.. Gonna go catch some zzzzz's.

killer scores!

lol, you've brought up your AA by 3 points... now THATS AN IMPROVEMENT !!

whats your GPA like?

Can someone please tell me what's wrong with their test scores from last year? Did you not get interviews because it was too late in the cycle? I understand that this is a very competitive process but I would be disappointed if I didn't get any interviews with a 19AA and all scores above 17...

Nice improvement
well done. do you mind telling us what material did you use to study for DAT and how much time you put into it.
i'm planning on taking the DAT in October and i'm already freaking out 🙁
thanks

OP's undergrad GPA was like 3.1 when they applied and sGPA was even lower. New DAT scores will help.

i will also share a 'technique' for angle ranking that i have not encountered yet on the forums.

Now at the prometric, they hand out 2 laminated sheets. If you are struggling with angle ranking the secret to doing well in this section are those 2 sheets. If trying to distinguish between 2 very similar angles, simply hold the 2 sheets together like so.
_______ _____
|-------|/------/
|-------|/------/ *pinch here
|-------/*-----/
|____/_____/

Imagine it kind of like a scissor. Now you hold these 2 sheets close to the screen and adjust it in a way so that the bold lines are perfectly aligned to the angle. Then you pinch the bottom of the 2 sheets with one hand firmly so the 2 sheets stay together. Now you can move it around, or rotate it to compare with the other angle! It will become very obvious which angle is bigger/smaller. I don't know if you are allowed to use the sheets this way or not, but I never got scolded for it, so I guess it is okay.

Interesting.. 😎

i say just go for it. i don't think there is a rule that says you can't touch the screen with the laminated paper. i think at most they might just give a warning.. but i don't think it is serious enough to warrant major repercussions.

Are these scores enough to offset the lower GPA? And if not then what would be the minimum required on the DAT with similar sGPA/oGPA of 3.05/3.17?

Congrats on the scores. Good Job!

Awesome scores.

I would just call Prometric beforehand and ask if it's ok to use the angle method. Taking the DAT is nerve racking enough, I wouldn't want to be worrying about whether or not I was cheating.
