Hello Everyone,

I applied to UIC, Marquette, Michigan, SIU, and NYU but none of these school invited me for an interview, either my application is waitlisted or under Review. I am getting frustrated by the amount of time it is taking to hear from them. I am not sure it is because of my stats I am not getting interview or because I applied late in october. Any advice would help.

Here are my stats:

3.74 cumGPA, 3.70 SciGPA

AA 19
TS 20
PAT 16
ORG 20
Bio 18
QRT 17
GChem 21
RCT 19

I think both somewhat low DAT (although it is quite competitive) and applying late contributes. I am assuming you are an Illinois resident applying to all those Illinois schools? I would think you have very good chances at everywhere else except Michigan. Call NYU and other schools and ask them what your status is.

Having a 16 probably hurts you, but 19/20 3.7 is very good... Pretty sure applying late was an issue for you.

Yeah applying late probably got you... I also applied late (somewhat similar stats) and haven't heard anything back from schools yet (although I didn't apply to the same schools, only Marquette).

If you don't hear anything this cycle I would pick up Crack DAT PAT and try to raise that PAT score. I know a lot of schools do not like 16 for a PAT score, and you don't want something like that to hold you back. I am retaking (and was advised to retake) because of my 17 PAT (and 18AA).

Just my opinion.

Best of luck.

i have friends that got into all of the above schools with lower stats than you have. the 16 PAT probably hurts a little bit.... but like i said, ppl i know had lower stats.

i'm thinkin you were just a bit too late....

Yes, I am an Illinois resident. Thank you everyone for the response!

i agree with others in that you applied late. Great GPA but you needed better DAT scores to have a good chance of acceptance by applying late in the cycle. Hopefully you get an interview before this cycle is over, but if you don't, make sure you apply much earlier next time. It would also help tremendously if you improve all your DAT scores to at least 18, 19s.

most likely this is because of the time at which you applied

The 16 pat hurts, everything else is fine.

because I applied late in october.

kiss of death. if you reapply in May/June, I'm 99% sure you'll get an interview at UIC, SIU, NYU, or all of the above. I think you have a strong application, but sorry, I really have no sympathy for people who apply late, if you don't get in it's ya own damn fault.

Your GPA isn't the issue. Your TS is good but with your QR, RC, and PAT scores and to add to that your late application, theres going to be a rough road ahead of you. I would re-prep with Crack DAT PAT, do some Crack DAT Math to improve your QR and do a retake. But thats just my opinion on it.

Some schools, I believe UCSF and UDM, have minimum cutoffs of 17 for each section. I would call the schools you applied to and ask if they recommend a retake.

I was also late too! I turn in my paper work in mid August, but did not take the DAT until the day before Haloween, 2008. I have a 3.5 at a UC and my DAT was 19/21/19. So far I got 2 interviews.

Just hang in there you will here from someone. If you don't get anything I'm sure you will kill it next cycle with that GPA. BEST of LUCK!
