I have a question, Do graduate schools accept DAT scores instead of GREs for a post-bac program? I know that they accept the MCATs, but have no idea about DAT. Any input is appreciated.

never heard of it.

how about asking the one you want to go to, wouldnt that be the best rather than asking a bunch of unhappy kids on SDN?

I havent looked into any of the programs yet, and It just hit me today that
if I dont get in this year, I should start thinking about a post-bac program and re-apply to dental school (since my GPA sucks). These unhappy kids have given me great advice so far (especially for my DAT), so Im not gonna lose anything by asking a question.

Arash:

To answer your question, yes, Post-Bac programs will accept GRE scores instead of DAT. The Post-Bac program I attended, Midwestern University - MBS at Glendale, AZ accepted the GRE for admission requirement.

Find a program that you're interested in and then call them and ask specifically. Good luck. Great DATs by the way.

Hey Arash,
What kind of post-bac program are you looking into? What is difference between post-bac and masters? I'm thinking about doing a masters'...hopefully 1 year. I wish I had started this spring semester....but then again, I wish I had been accepted this cycle 🙁
Your DAT scores look nice...how come you didn't get a single interview? did you call and find out?

Arash was asking whether post-bac programs accept DAT scores, not the other way around

A few months ago a pre-dent in the post-bacc forum stated that he had gone to Barry University's 1 yr. post-bacc program and that they had accepted his DAT scores instead of the MCAT/GRE's. At that time I don't think their website said anything about accepting DAT scores, so you should probably call the programs you're interested in and just ask.

Depends on the program, but most schools do ACCEPT the DAT score INSTEAD of the GRE. I have even heard that just in case western will accept the GRE instead of the DAT.

Thank you all for the responses.
hellOKiTTyrox, As far as the difference between a post-bac program and a masters goes , I really don't know the difference. I guess what I mean is a masters degree probably in Biology or Biotechnology. Getting a good graduate GPA will hopefully make up for my lousy undergrad GPA. and the reason I havent gotten an interview is because I was stupid and applied late (my printouts were mailed on Dec 27th by AADSAS). I am still keeping my hopes up, but at this time, not feeling confident.
1992Corolla and mochafreak Thanks for the info, that's a relief that at least some graduate schools accept the DAT. I will be calling some schools to see what they want and let you guys know. I really don't want to take the GREs, just thinking about studying for math makes me sick.

How do you like the program?

what kind of DAT scores do they accept? do they want as high as dental schools?

Ok I checked with the graduate school of UMDNJ, and they do accept DATs/MCATs for Masters in Biomedical sciences. I believe they are looking for above 18 DATs.
